ok i finally decided what kind of car im going to get, but i dont know which of the 2 there both the same except for the front end and rear end. they both have the 1.8L vvtl-i 180 hp 120lbs of tq and both mated with a 6 speed. but what i like the most about them is my insurace company calls them station wagons lol very cheap insurance. they both run about 15.7 in the 1/4 mile the vibe takeing the slight edge cause of the crappy 2 tone body panels.
does anyone know where i can get general info and specs on these beasts
and
I guess if you had to choose which one do you think looks sexier!
thanks

Matrix here. I like the interior on them alot. But then again I havent seen the Vibe much. But based on looks Id go Matrix. The Matrix drives very smooth but its kind of a slouch.

like sappy said, they are basically the same car, and the interiors are almost identical...
I saw a black one the other day with black/polished lip rims, looked great.
The Toyota is going to hold its value much more than the Pontiac... In 5 years, you'll get double for the Matrix than one would with a Vibe...

do you have statistical info on that? or is that just your opinion?

Go onto KBB or any other pricing site, enter the same miles, options, and everything. See the price difference on the same cars just 3 model years old?
First of all, I'd like to thank wesmanw02 for being such a Cobalt-nut-sucking tool.
Secondly, I'd like to thank Travis Kearny for being so entertaining.

The truth is on KBB.COM, for example...
2003 Pontiac Vibe GT, loaded, 43,000 miles, retail: $13,100
2003 Toytoa Matrix XRS, loaded, 43,000 miles, retail: $15,135
But, consider the Vibe most likely originally sold for $1000 - $2000 less (based on out-the-door price, with incentives). So, in reality, resale is actually fairly close between the two.
So... they are mostly the same, I just love the way the Vibe looks so much more...

It's fact... A Vibe retails for thousands less because it has a Pontiac badge versus a Toyota badge...

truth...but half the time parts are going to cost more because they have to go to Toyota to get them.

Well since the two cars are the same shouldnt the parts cost the same?

Actually, believe it or not, at least 95% of the time parts sourced from Toyota are CHEAPER the the exact same part source from GM! Trust me, being a Vibe owner, I tend to shop Toyota for any replacement parts I need. I typically save 10% to 20% over the same part from GM.

by the way, Bob...the motor you mentioned is NOT equipped with VVTL-i...it's got VVT-i. the L stands for Lift(similar to Vtec), and exists only in the 2ZZ-GE, which is found in the XRS. unless you like buying premium gas all the time, that motor isn't for you.

damn.
i'm jealous, then. they didn't do that with Prizm parts - everything comes from Toyota. i figured i could save money by getting GM parts for my corolla, and found out the hard way that i was wrong.
grr. dumb toyota.
