I have been trying to come up with some way of fitting a turbo under the hood of my car with the 3400 in it for some time now... The only thing I can come up with is doing a rear mounted setup... How well do you think a stand alone oiling system for the turbo would work? Id have a small resevoir (2 quarts or more) of oil and an electric oil pump mounted in the trunk of the car with the lines run to the turbo. I have been looking at pumps online and it seems like theres alot to choose from. Most put out around 2 gal a min@50psi.

Alot of the pumps I deal with at work have a thermal protector in it. It usually triggers it after a couple straight minutes of use. Not sure if any others are able to run for extended periods of time, but most likely there is one that can do it.
I think you are over thinking it.... You don't need a whole separate system. You can feed the turbo off of your engine, and will just need the pump for pushing it back to the pan. Here is a link to the manufacturer of the same pump STS uses for their pumps. Its the same pump thats on my Wife's car which has a remote mount turbo...

I don't see why you can't mount a turbo set-up in the engine bay. You can with a 3800 in a J, so why not a 3400.

The 3400 guys with Aleros mount them where the battery is/was.

If my turbo stuff does not sell and I end up using it I will be making a complete oiling system for it. Just the pump alone is going to be in the $350-500 range.
The way my computer sits and the way my motor mount is on the rad support makes it almost (almost) impossible to fit it.

im sorry but a turbo does fit in a 3400 3rd gen much like the alero pic above.

Why wouldn't an $80 shurflo pump work? I'm using one for water injection successfully. You might need to put a cheap trans cooler on the intake side, but otherwise it should work great.

A diaphram pump will fail due to the fluid and heat. I have read numerous articles about this exact problem with them. Even STS uses a gear type pump.

mitdr774 is correct. I went through 2 shurflo pumps before I came across the pump STS uses on their systems. ImPhat0260/Cavattack2000 has my old system installed on his wife's car. The RBRacing pump works perfect. Don't skimp on the most important part of a rear mount system that keeps it reliable.
