Running the Rapid Fire #5's gapped around .035 if I recall, still getting the flashing CEL while in 3rd gear near redline.
Anybody running something else that has cured this? Any recommendations for gap? Or possibly another plug to try out?
Thanks
. Doesn't really bother me as it only occurs near redline but I'd like to solve the issue at hand.
It might not be a plug issue or gap issue.......
you might have timing issues............... do you have anyway to check your ign. timing......... it might be off..... what kind of wires are you running......
does everything on your motor have a good ground....... \
Just some thoughts.....

I changed to tr6's and haven't had a problem. Get this, my wife managed to get the cel flashing, but i can't even do that at the track (go figure..cavy doesn't like her). But I gapped them down to .030.
Hope that helps

Wires come on 2.4's now?!
my check engine flashed at me too for about the first few weeks... spark plug wirers were gaped perfectly to what gm said to do and every thing was in place.. it just went away one day.... well the check engine light aways came back but never would flash... its because GM made their programe to run slightly on the rich side and that is all your check engine light will be...

give them a try. they can be had at autozone.
them should lower your a/f ratio a little too. (bobby has them plugs and a wideband and i got that # from killerquad)
chances the rapid fire #5 plugs u have are platinum, as they stopped making the non platinum ones.

2.4s have wires now? and wires have a proper gap? That's news to me AND Jay. The amount of ba terminology on this site grows by the day...it's amazing.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Some ppl do run msd on the 2.4 with spark wires but its nothing news, get with the times ppl
I used to have this problem when I had a very lean fuel setup and it happened reguardless of plug or gap, however as soon as i changed injectors and got the afr into the 11s and 12s the problem no longer happened with stock plugs or copper plugs at any gap, so are you lean?

Thanks for that, I will give them a shot as I think I've fouled mine out by now. This what you're running at the moment?
I guess I should get some dyno time and make sure a/f ratios are all good, as I'm running quite rich, and always have been. Understand the no cat makes it seem like it, but my gas mileage also shows it, I get horrible gas mileage lately. Though shooting flames is a ton a fun, and people following me while on it love it!
my car hasnt ran since october as it is in storage.
i am /wasrunning the #5 non platinum plugs. but i am going to run them ac delco ones i gave u the # for when the car sees the road..
I have been running the plugs that Jake suggested, as opposed to the NGK TR6s I had in it, and it seems to run a lot smoother, with no misfires or codes. Might want to look into them. Good luck.
Flashing CEL means multiple misfire.... The top end flashing is usually multiple random cylinder misfire, not enough force to jump the gap under the higher boosted compression. I know this is a common problem in J's but I wiould read the code anyway just to make sure.
If that is the codem try gapping them down a little more... nothing? Try different plugs? If you can never find one sweet combination you are going to have to upgrade to a higher energy ignitions system... that or put the orange corners back on. ^_^

Boy do I feel the love!
What gap you recommend with the 41-602? Picking them up today.
Thanks again.
ive had the 4166 ngk's in mine since i put the s/c on , and gaped around .035
everyone car seams to need different gap to keep from seeing the flashing
id start with a wider gap , then lower it tell it goes away
but i havent had any issues with my .035 gap
The 41-602's gapped at .035 have cured things thus far, guess we'll see if it's true come tomorrow......track day

good luck and keep us updated.
