FOR SALE: Joe Schultes Car
Sunday, March 08, 2009 11:26 AM
Well this is kind of one of those if it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, then whatever, sales...

My buddy recently decided to sell his car that I have liked for quite some time. He would be giving me a pretty good deal on it so I kind of can't pass it up. But in order to buy it I'll have to sell the Cavalier...

Let me start off by first saying I will not part the car out. Due to the fact that if I can't sell it, I'm just going to keep it and enjoy it like I planned on doing anyways. So please don't ask.

Here are the details of the car, both good and bad...

1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 5-Speed
103,XXX miles
Clean CARFAX that I have on file...

I'll start off with the bad...

BAD:

Paint issues:

There a couple paint issues that will be getting fixed if I keep the car. As of right now they aren't fixed, and since I'm trying to sell the car before my paint guy can fix it, so if someone were to buy it right now these flaws would still be on the car...

- There is a crack in the paint on the drivers door where the door handle was. Apparently something went wrong there with the prep work and the paint split right in that area. It's about 3 1/2" long...

- There is a chip in the front bumper that spider-ed out a bit and needs to be taken car of, among a decent amount of smaller chips from daily driving in the summer.

- Sideskirts have paint wear on the top from the doors rubbing on them. My fault due to the fact that they weren't secured down as well as they should have been.

- The hood has a couple small runs in the clear.

Other misc issues:

- TPS sensor doesn't always want to cooperate. I've replaced it a couple different times and it will work perfectly fine for about a month or so, then start acting up. Car should idle around 800 RPM and when the TPS is acting up it can idle as high as 1600-1700 RPM but it's hit or miss. I'm really not sure what is needed to fix this problem but it hasn't been a big enough issue for me to really try and sit down and figure it out.

- Very minor damage from fender rolling ( pics couldn't even capture, you can just tell around the lip where it's rolled ever so slightly )

- Very small crease on driver's fender...paint reflection wouldn't allow camera to even pick it up

- No airbags, A/C, or cruise control

- Passenger power mirror not working for some reason

- CEL from EGR removal, have scanner and can prove that's all it is...does not affect car one bit

- Will come rolling on steelies

GOOD:

Pretty much everything else about the car. Joe put a ton of work into this thing, and it is quality work. I wish I could take credit for it but I can't. I'll just list off everything done to do the car at this point.

Miscellaneous:

Asking $4500 OBO. If you have a problem with that price, make me an offer. I don't want any beef about it, hah. If I still have it in a month and the paint gets fixed that price will go up, but then the car will be flawless paint wise. I'd like to see it go before then though...

I don't have any very current pics of the car, so these will have to do.

Keep in mind the car has a different hood on it now, it's lower now than it is in these pics ( I had the KYB AGX's and Eibach Pro-KIt on in the pics ), and it will come with steelies.

This is the hood it will come with...

Not to bust your balls, but I think it's hilarious when people buy a car that is already done, and then cry when people say " hey, that's Mike's car" or whoever, but when they go to sell it, all of the sudden it is this welll known persons car!! Not saying that's what you did, but people do it, and I think it's funny!! Good luck with the sale though!

Good luck with the sale! I also moved on from the J's 2 weeks ago. Just one thing that you said is getting me cause there is no 56mm HO throttle body. Both the LO and HO had the 56mm so just say 56mm TB please.

Ha, buying it back and redoing it would be a thought but I don't have the budget to waste on such, nor desire. Anybody has questions that I can better answer, PM me, otherwise don't waste my time. I sold the car for a reason and that reason remains.

Matt, I'm sure Shawn's title was done in humor referenced to the comedy @ this past bash.

I too have joined Trey in being j-less as of today. The HO TB is in reference as it's on a HO manifold, I'm sure I worded it the same for the sake of my mod's list @ car shows.

^^^For sure, I just think it's funny cause people always want the old identity of the cars owner to disappear unless it would benefit them, lol!! Like I said though, not saying that's the case here, but it is one of the more infamous cars on the .org, so I wouldn't be surprised. Nothing but love for the o.p., just making an observation, G/L with the sale bro!!

then again... if he didnt post joe's name, you know 5 thousand people would post..."hey is that Joe's old car?" type of comments lol plus, Joe is responsible for making that car the beauty that it is, so of course it'll draw attention!!

GLWS

I posted it as such because that's what everyone knows it as.

Can anyone honestly say they've seen this car and went hey man, isn't that ahfunaki's car? Doubtful...

But it's all in fun, as Joe said. I've even joked with him about seeing if we could both get our name on the title and have a joint ownership of it, hah.

And to be honest people will look at that title and have no idea who Joe Schulte is and probably pass it right up...

He's not gonna be parting it out ever. It's either he sells it or he doesn't.

Are you done being a troll yet? I'm pretty sure you've added nothing useful to this post. Not trying to bust your balls or anything...

Anywho, the car is still just as clean as when Joe had it, minus the paint issues which like I said will be getting fixed as soon as my paint guy can get it in.

The other issues such as the TPS problem and stuff were issues that it had when I bought it pretty much so nothing has changed there,,,

If someone went to pick it up thinking it was "perfection" and got there and it wasn't, they sure would've found my post useful. Troll my ass, just made a statement, don't post in public forums if you don't like it. And I do beleive I said it was a nice car!
