Throttle Body or Spacer?

Basically what the subject asks? I'm new to modding and the spacer is a lot cheaper. I plan on boosting in the near future. Is it worth it to spend the extra cash for the new throttle body or just be cheap and buy the spacer kit? Thanks

TB more CFM,
spacer on carbed cars helps mix air and fuel, you have injectors doing that, wast of money.

A throttle body spacer wont do a doo doo on our cars.Read the FAQ at the top of the forum page.

a Spacer is junk. but if you plan on getting nitrous, you can drill the spacer instead of your intake

Can you prove it?

The spacer increases the volume of air in the intake plenum (air reserve). So if you need more air in the higher rpms, this would be a cheap fix/help.

at higher rpms, the air is moving fast through there, more like streamline directly into the runners... so there really isnt a need for reserve cause air is readily comming in...


also for the ecotec, gm has already said the stock intake manifold was good to what? 4-500 HP.....

so if it flows that good to that point a spaceer isnt gonna do anything on a stock engine.... remember the engine can only take in so much air, and most people asking about spacers ARE stock.


think of it like your mouth and stomach....

you can enlarge your mouth as much as you want, but your throat and stomach is only gonna flow so much food/water

same goes for an engine, you can only flow soo much air.



spacers dont really do anything on these cars 95 plus. they already have a decent reserve amount for up to enough power than not many here will ever reach

so should i even get a diffrent throttle body? i mean it seems like its slmost hands down against the spacer.

just get a bigger TB. have yours bored out to 59mm or for boosted cars go 62mm

i;d get the smaller of the two...

matter of fact if you can get ahold of a 56mm from an old 2.3, that would be sufficient for 80% or more of the mods the avg person on jbo has....
