I bet you that months after it comes out, you'll see some high powered all motor ecotecs just for the fact that it has VVT (Variable Valve Timing).

Does anyone think that it would be possible to hook up the eco s/c kit to this? Was worried about the electronic throttle but the kit comes with another one and a reflash would fix this right?

I was thinking this. It would be a nice engine...

Is that similiar to Toyota engines?

Sold 2/2/05
That pdf link above says 170 HP not 177.. Which is the real one? I like the number closer to 180

i heard that you either need the GM ECM for the 2.4eco or you'll have to use a stand alone.

Yes, some Toyota engines have VVT

That's how it goes for most swaps.

alot of manufacturers have vvt, vct, etc etc

Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
from what i heard, this engine is bored out from the same block as the 2.2 eco.
boosting a bored out engine is not a good idea since the cylinder walls are thinner

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
the 177 figure is the engine in the soltice
Hmmmm Looks good.
we'll have to wait and see. Who do you think would be the most likely jbo member to haul off and try to do a swap?

i was lookig into doing a head swap, or the 2.4 interals, to make my 2.2 ecotec have vvt
i dont think that will work youde need the ecu also and i dont think the 2.2 and 2.4 ecu besides the vvt are going to be the same...

"There is no point in looking fast if your not."
It would be nice if that thing was underated like the Cobalt SS engine....
from what i heard it is closer to 200hp at the flywheel

that would be a sick swap into a cav.
see ya!

Acutally it's advertised as 170 HP crank

VTAK! (VTEC =
Variable Valve
Timing and
Electronic Lift
Control System)
Toyota VVT-i
Ford Zetec
the list goes on
I think GM could call it ECOTAK
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Didn't know the Zetec's were VVT...you learn something new everyday

that wont work. VVT is not a bolt on

It should work actually. Would require a new ECU and alot o wiring changes.. Its just lie swapping a vtech head on a honda.. Same stuff... But in theory is should work.
(But i dont think is worth the money and time)
When GM put out the 2.2l ecotec motor, they said it was made to take new technologies such as VVT. We know that it has to do with the lash, but it will be possible to do. If you do it, you might need to switch to an electronic TB, beacuse i believe all 2.4s will be like that. I'm interested in getting VVT in my car, i will look into it. We have to wait till it comes out. It should be out soon.
