HID 9007 work in 03?
Friday, April 23, 2010 7:48 PM
Simple question, i know.

But will an HID Kit for 9007 bulbs fit my 03 stock headlights? I'm almost positive 9007 is the stock size. Also, i'm not familiar with how HID kits work. Don they require any modification of the headlight housing? Is it basically an amplifier? Also, what type of bulb will i need to be running with it?

Thanks for the help!

They install just like a stock bulb

9007 will work for 03.

You will need to mount a ballast, and if you do end up going hid buy a relay and hook it up using that, otherwise warming the bulbs and ballast up is a pain as the stock connections baaaaarely have enough juice to get them going.

It will tell you to cut a hole in your plastic cover on the back and wire through that, (the big cup shaped thing) don't bother, as the connections take up too much room in the cover and you won't be able to get it closed anyways.

You will only have your first moisture seal, but it should be okay. I've been running mine like that through the winter and I have no moisture in my headlights.

And do a projector retrofit! www.retro-solutions.com

yeah make sure that you buy a relay kit for it. Depending on how much room you have to mount ballasts you may want to buy the slim ballasts instead of the "norm"... I'm just using the norm but my bay is stock so there is enough room for mounting.

Also try not to mount them anywhere on the inside wall of the bay... i burnt up a ballast doing that. Now they're both residing underneath their respectable headlight and everything is working fine

HID's are so much nicer at night that I do not think I'll will ever go without them again

p.s. point them down a little bit. People don't appreciate bright lights in their eyes
