i just installed a plastic gas tank from my 2000 4 door grand am donor car( for my 3400 swap) into my 97 2 door cav. had to change a few things when it comes to the vents and lines and stuff, but i'm pretty positive the tank from the for door cav will fit the 2 door..if not which i doubt. you could always make it fit..lol..thats what i would do

wait wait wait

flatblakcav why did you do that if your running aftermarket gauges you may have just given yourself more headaches

98 and older js have a 0ohm empty 90 ohms full fuel sender
00 grand ams have a 40 ohms empty and 250 full

in CDN price for my gauge series 0-90 is 49 bucks and a programable (because they don't make a 40-250) is 169

if you have a 0-90 fuel gauge when your tank is empty it will read 1/2 tank also for the record 00 cavailers use the same pump as a grand am 97 grand am 3100 uses the same pump as a 2.2 cav (no point in switching) get a new steel tank and paint it before it goes in and you wont have an issue

look into that cause you may have opened a new can of worms

also 2 and 4 doors are the same tank sender is the same also from engine to engine

the reason was to replace the old rusted out steel cavalier tank that was leaking lol. but other than that its all hooked up to the grand am harness still..i changed over the full harness from the donor car.. the fuel pump seems to be working fine as well as the injectors ..just no spark
