A w-body should be in there.

I will never recodnise any listing like this anyway. Statistics are too easy to say what you want to say. Everyone has their own motives.

CR are retarded.
If mr. goodwrenches car has a problem he rates as a 10 but I have the same problem but rank it a 5 how the heck is that supposed to work.
It doesn't.

i hate CR...thier reports, even on domestics are incredibly biased towards Jap imports. they seem to take the best out there, use it as the standard and compare all to it (grading on a curve), instead of looking at production numbers vs failures in the case of reliability for example. of course a C6 will look unreliable when compared to an accord...

I think they didn't test the c6 cause they are a bunch of weak pansies and were scared of it.

CR Guy 1: Oh my goodness, it has 400 HP, and Rear wheel drive. Did we stock up on adult diapers?
CR Guy 2: Well, the last guy used them up testing a Solstice GXP. Somebody should tell the Car makers that anything with rearwheel drive and more than 200hp is a death trap.
CR Guy 1: Yeah, Well, I guess we can't test it then. We will just say it's got bad paint or the shifter is too heavy for us.
CR Guy 2: Well it is American we could just lean on that unreliability thing we've been saying forever....
CR Guy 1: You're a genius.

Looks like Ford takes the win in the Domestics. Ford: 5 GM: 3.

Also, they do test on how comfortable the car is, they don't base it just on speed. Typical jbody members bitching about why the corvette isnt #1.

Which is why this magazine is famous for giving their own opinion, which is why people listen to what they say.

on a side note...how could ford cars are rated so highly but their sales are horrible?

There talking about the ford money lining their pockets. Thats absolutely rediculous.

Also the biggest problem as Sappy96 said is what your definition of reliability and problems is. IMO if the engine runs the transmission shifts and the guages work there are no problems.

However for some if an interior dome light goes out the car isn't reliable.

Theres also a lot of bias. People who love foreign cars for the most part often will rave about reliability even if they have to drop a few hundred a month into them, but the same person driving a cavalier that has to get new brake pads because there squealing is unreliable.

My sunfire is the MOST reliable car I've ever owned or driven, and its been abused the most. It hasn't cost me anything other than oil, gas, tires, and brake pads since I purchased it. But if you go check reports on it it doesn't get a 5 out of 5 in reliability.

All perspective and bias. The best review is your own test drive and looking thru the maintenence forum on the car enthusiasts websites. That when you find the real problems and truly know if the car is for you or not.

I would have agreed with this point ... but ... they did choose the cts-v. So, your theory is pretty much shot down.

C&D , motor trend , and similar magazines are all biased

some of the bias comes from the same way we all are , we like what we like , and wont accept anything else

the rest comes from the all-mighty dollar , and ignorance

36.9% of statistics are made up on the spot.

It is so easy to be bias. I know that the new Civic is a great car, but I hate it more than anything else out there. But I love the Pontiac G5, even though the Civic is quieter, safer, rides & handles better, and is more efficient. I base my opinions on time spent with the car. If I like my car, who cares what CR has to say about it.

I fail to see how anything made by ford is on that list

The focus and escort are probably the worst small cars on the market, id rather own a kia

ignorance is bliss
since the escort isn't even made anymore
and the focus is twice the car the j-body ever was

i agree that it is ridiculous, but the ford money comment is just as ridiculous...

Well the focus power plant was never twice as good as the jbodies.
For the price the J was a better deal unless you were into auto-x.

True. And the 10 year old Focus platform is still a more advance then any compacts errr sub-compacts GM has to offer today. What can you expect, the Delta chassis are still bloody old.
The only thing Focus is lacking is their engine power rating, w/e cram a V8 in there (Ford Racing) and call it a day.
Or bring the Euro Focus here.

I know of quite a few focus owners that had so many problems they ended up getting rid of them after not even having half the car paid off.
