1990 Chevrolet CavalierAbout This Vehicle:
Got this car in 95 or 96, I forget now, probably 96. It had just over 140,000km on it. Now at the beginning of 2006 it has gone over 377,000km and is still going strong. Doesn't burn oil, doesn't seem weak, though I suppose a bit of an engine refresher wouldn't hurt any car with that much milage on it. Been used in the past (and currently being used again!) for pizza delivery, and I seem to get 28-29mpg doing that! So in my opinion it still runs very well. That Aero-Turbine muffler sounds GREAT on this car. I initially had no cat/resonator when I got this muffler installed, but it was just way too loud so I had a resonator installed afterwards. Doesn't sound too loud now, still on the loud side but the tone is very nice, has a pretty good rumble to it now. Probably about as loud as a late 80's Mustang 5.0 is, if you're familiar with those. The front speaker installation is rather unique, I have never seen anyone put them in this location, and man does it ever give you awesome stereo imaging. I've got holes in the carpet cut out close to the kick panel area, and I cut some rings out of MDF to go behind the carpet. The speakers and the rings then sandwich the carpet for mounting. The speaker opposite you is aimed at your head. They have angled rotatable tweeters, which are aimed for your closer shoulder. The result is absolutely great stereo for both listeners in the front seats. Just gotta watch your outside foot so you don't kick the grill, heh. I'll get some pictures up sometime, since it makes everything crystal clear as soon as you see it.
