2008 Hyundai Sonata GLSAbout This Vehicle:
This is the new daily driver for me, 2008 Hyundai Sonata GLS. Gotta say I absolutely love this car, so much better than the '03 Mustang I was using as a daily driver. I love Mustangs to death, but that particular one just wasn't cutting it in several areas. Even though it's not a true luxury car, it definitely has a luxury feel (to me) when driving in it. Plus the 500-plus miles on a tank of gas isn't bad either considering my commute is about 70 miles round trip daily. Now I have a car for work (that's also fun to drive) and a car for play. Not to mention that in black, it just looks so much better. Body Style: Sedan Color: Ebony Black Engine: 2.4L DOHC Transmission: Automatic Interior: Beige Purchase Date: December 1, 2007 Purchased From: Jim Hudson Hyundai
Manufacturer Options
- One option...Popular Equipment Package. I could care less about the other gadgets and gimmicks that come on the higher grade Sonatas. There was only one option I wanted (Trip Computer) and it was apart of this package so I got it. I miss the sunroof feature of course...so that might be something I do in the future. Should be easier to do it on a sedan rather than a curvy hood of a Mustang...anyway.
MODIFICATIONS
Engine:- 2.4L DOHC engine with CVVT. Produces about 162 horsepower and 164 foot pounds of torque. No this car is not the fastest but I can say it's a hell of a lot faster off the line than my former '03 Mustang v6 that has 31 more ponies. I don't know if it's the torque but whenever I do a hard launch (only done it twice...it is a new car by the way and not a racer) it seems like it about to throw me into the back seat. Kind of a good feeling really and real easy to chirp the tires.
Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:- 16 steel rims with "deluxe" hubcaps...whatever that means. I'll definitely be upgrading the wheels in the future. Found a set of 17" 10 spoke rims I think would look killer on this car and they are only $400 for the set...so already this car is cheaper to mod that my '06 Mustang haha. Just hope the TPMS won't be a bitch to deal with when I finally get larger wheels.
Interior:- Beige/gray/black interior. Not a fan of beige interior cars but in this car it adds a sense of elegance. Don't know but with the woodgrain panels and accents...it just works. Changed out the beige floor mats for all weather black ones. Didn't want the beige ones getting dirty since that are light and hard to keep looking good once they are worn.
Exterior:- Exterior is staying stock for now. Not many body kits and the only two that are available to my knowledge is the Razzi (which I like) and one that has to be imported from Korea (which I also like). Razzi will probably get the nod if I decide to do one due to the fact it's "closer."
Audio:- AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 player with six speakers. Standard factory radio from Hyundai. Been enjoying the free trial of XM that I have right now. The stock stereo is pretty posh and while I was going to replace it with an aftermarket system...I'm not so sure now. I do think that a 6" - 7" in dash DVD player would look pretty sweet where the factory radio presently sits.
