2005 Pontiac Sunfire

About This Vehicle:

It's a surprisingly good car for it's price point. It got bad reviews from car reviewers, but gets good reviews from Sunfire owners. I like it. It has it's flaws, but what car doesn't? The 2.2 Ecotech seems to be a very good engine, no problems with it, and coupled with the 5 speed manual transmission, it's very fun to drive and can accelerate pretty darn good. All that and it get 25-30 mpg. Mine is a survivor, it's had a rough life. It was totaled by an insurance company, and I bought it with 70k miles from the guy who reconstructed it, paying about half of it's then blue book value due to a reconstructed title. It's lightly optioned, with only cruise and AC as extras. It even has hand crank windows, which is kind of nice because you don't have to worry about needing to change out a motor. Issues with the car include soft sheet metal, you gotta be very careful when leaning against the car. It dents easily. I put a palm size dip in the trunk lid when closing it. One other major issue is the malfunctioning instrument cluster, with no speedometer or fuel gauge. This issue is in about 4% of the Sunfires produced. GM does a recall at 5%, so no recall. I track my fuel with the odometer, and use a speedometer app on my phone.
