Forget socialism, given the Obama "worship" the mainstream media collapsed into last night this is now the United Kingdom of Obama.

In fact, we are not going to wait until January 20th to annoint "the one." Heck, get the moving van up to the White House and the Obama's up to Capitol Hill right now. We will be dispensing with an inaugaration and go right to a CORONATION! I have no doubt that a crown could be made big enough to fit his head.

But let’s not stop there: the facade of the White House is a bit dated. A palace type facade would be more fitting, perhaps with a moat to keep the riff raff out. Where did Barry put those Greek columns he used in Germany?? And who needs White House tours anymore? The notion that its the "people's house" seems so... pedestrian.

The term "First Lady" for Michelle seems to be an outdated title as well. "Her Royal Majesty" is much more appropriate. After all, we Americans have always had a fascination with royalty. So let's also bestow the title of Princesses on the children.

And the notion of a cabinet really minimizes the occasion here. We need the term COURT, as in His Royal Highness's Court, substituted. The image of Camelot is so appealing, that we could actually have a KINGDOM, at last!

I do think that Obama Love-A-Thon is getting to be a bit much. A newspaper in Montreal called him the "Messiah". We even had Haitians bawling in joy here too as if Bama's gonna do anything for them at all. Last time I checked Nelson Mandela getting elected in South Africa was a historic moment. Not getting a slightly tanned man with a funny name into the White House. I'm sorry America, but you're not that special. Please stop tapping yourself on the back and thinking you won some sort of prize. It's disgusting when the Conservatives do it, and it doesn't appeal to me one bit more when the Liberals do it.

Personally I think he's going to be a politician. He's going to do nothing and talk a great deal. Just like W or Clitin' or W Senior or even Reagan. Running a country is like running a company. It's not the guy in charge that causes change but the outside circumstances that are totally out of his control.

What's going to be especially funny to watch is how the jubilant hope of every poor dumb bastard in the Ghetto is going to disintergrate. Right now, a lot of people are thinking that they're gonna suddenly be rich by this time next year. That the cops are gonna stop arresting them every time they mug old ladies or steal cars. That those tests with the A or B answers are suddenly gonna get easier because someone was holding them back.

New Boss same as the old Boss. Got that Hoss?

I was a little vague there. What I meant was that it's disgusting when Conservatives do it when they think they've won something, and it's just as bad when Liberals do it. I just hate bad winners who gloat.

i know what ussr stood for....but that doesnt suddenly make them something different. east germany/berlin called itself the german democratic republic, but it was just as communistic as mother russia herself. the names are just simple ways to use propaganda both internally and externally.

Few things here:

Socialism is not the opposite of democracy. Capitalism is the opposite of socialism. You could say the polar opposite of democracy is a dictatorship. Thus, you can have a democratic socialist nation and a capitalist dictatorhip nation. Remember, the propoganda is not limited there. After all, we were founded by slaveowners that said "all men are created equal."

Further, Any system of economy or government is not evil in and of itself, it's the evil matriarchal copulators that run the show that give it a good or a bad name.

Knox: It's less a Obama love-a-thon and more of a highschool pep rally (remember how dumb those things were?). It's either idolation of Obama, or McCain. Either Obama is the Messiah or the Harbinger of doom. Personally, i find it very amusing that supposed intelligent adults would devolve to this level of grade-school antics and turn this into basically a popularity contest where each side wants to see how far they can shove either McCain's or Obama's penis up their rectum. Either way, they're still getting effed up the arse.

Taetsch: Obama is not the antichrist. He doesn't have the edge. If I may use a dilbertian reference, he couldn't even hold a candle to Phil, the prince of insufficient light. And further, i'm insulted and hurt that you would even think that he could claim that title from me.

Canada has a few "Socialist" systems but they're nothing compared to other former socialist countries (the Soviet Union, Chinas working out of it, etc.) I don't think they qualify really. By definition a socialist govt has complete control of almost every aspect of the economy except for small proprietorships which are quite limited. I guess you could in a stretch say Canada is a Socialistish system. But what you say for all intents and purposes makes them socialist is what I will say that they're capitalist. There is no true socialism, capitalism or communism in this world. Just a blurred mix of them that are taken to different degrees and different countries. What they were discussing was that Canada was socialist like China or the Soviet Union where there's no free enterprise.

^^^thing is, A purely socialistic system would never last, and a purely capitalistic system would never last. Socialism in pure form while effectively eleiminating most classes, would not be able to survive without some form of leadership to keep it going (thus giving an elite class), and people would only work and produce hard enough to get by without any sense of reward for going above and beyond.

Capitalism, on the other hand, loses out to the very system that drives it--greed. Everyone strives for the top but once there is a frontrunner, the competition is altogether squashed out and everything end up as a monopoly--and that monopoly is the new elite class and everyone else is peons.. Then you have people with no incentive to be more productive than to get by because getting ahead is futile, at best.

The only way to make a system work is a balance of socialism--keeping a fairly level playing field, and capitalism--giving people incentive to better themselves. The thing is, it has to be done just right, and that's what hasn't been done.

i still refuse to call russia or china socialistic countries. they are/were communistic countries. while similar, there is enough of a difference to require pointing that out.

and keeper is right....there are no "pure" forms of any government style, but canada is a socialist-leaning govt. i mean honestly, once you start throwing in universal health care and paying such large portions in taxes, then youre headed right down that line. take a look at germany today and then look at other socialist-leaning countries.

^^^Depends on the perspective. Slovakia (then Czechoslovakia) behind the iron curtain had the same government forms as the USSR--and no one there refers to it as "Communism", just as "Socialism". Granted, it's still with disdain (Some people I've talked to said living under the thumb of the Soviets was as bad--if not worse, than the Nazis).

Still, like I've said, it's not the system so much as the arseclowns in charge. Hell, you take someone like Washington, who just didn't want power, and put him in place of Lenin, and the USSR might have gotten off to a good start. You put, say, Stalin in charge of the U.S. in the postwar years and we'd be just as screwed up as the USSR was. Keep in mind, I believe that if the political ideals were of no consequence--just the men themselves.

About Canada, we pay less for health care per capita than you do. Sometimes we get crappy service, but it doesn't cost 9 trillion dollars a month either. I'd rather wait in the ER for a few hours than pay 900$ to see a doctor.

As for all this mumbling about Communism, you have to make a stark difference between a political system and an economic system. Capitalism is an economic system, Democracy is a political system, while Communism is a socioeconomic system. (Socialism is technically supposed to be an economic system of means and production, but you all know as well as I do that it means different things to everyone.) Anyway...

Why is Communism or Socialism wrong? Think about the kind of people who are telling you it's wrong for a minute. Most of them have a lot invested in Capitalism being used and abused against you. How odd it is that they'd hate socialism huh? What an utter shock. Come on, wake up for a minute and stop buying the BS they feed you.

Don't think I'm defending Communism or Socialism either. I think it's too centralized, too ideological and too open to corruption. It can be subverted by a handful of people, while Capitalism is spread out and based on greed. You can trust greed, a man will lie about his beliefs but he'll never lie about his appetites. It's easy to hide behind a mask of the good communist, but we always know what the rich always want.

Personallu, I think Capitalism is the best thing to ever happen to the human race. In fact, I'd go so far as saying that it's an invention ranking somewhere up there with the wheel. Without Capitalism we'd still be invading countries just so we could aquire their riches. Billions of dollars squandered, countless dead. A waste in every sense. But with Capitalism we can just buy them out, using greed instead of guns. It's simple, straighforward, pure and honest.

Where I differ with a lot of people is when it comes to social programs. In that one case, think a little socialism is good. Welfare is cheaper than cops and prisons and riots. Free Medical care makes sure that people don't spend all their money on bills, so they can buy goods and help the capitalistic system roll along instead of throwing all their money at insurance companies. Capitalism doesn't work when people spend most of their money in one or two places. It works best when people consume constantly in various ways.

Now all we need to do is fix the housing problem and we'll get the economy rolling again. We got into this whole stupid mess because people spend 90% of their money on a house they can barely afford. Capitalism has only one enemy, and that's the monopoly. Fix housing and you'll fix America.
