i say good. he was obviously involved in the homeland spying issues among im sure numerous other unconsitutional acts president bush has been inacting behind the scenes in the name of false national security.

he is obviously stepping down for fear of something otherwise why would the day after midterms be the day he steps down after havign his possition for SOO long.

wether you like the dems took power in the house or not, it WILL make both parties STRONGER and hopefully less corrupt. we will make massive head room on many issues as both parties vigoursly attempt to show the united states people they know what they are doing.

Based solely on the fact that he couldn't save face to... well, save his life. It is probably a good thing.

Hopefully you are right Nathan, and corruption becomes less of an issue. However, judging by the people elected, I only expect marginally so, as most aren't any better than their opponents.

He should have thrown in the towel after the Reagan Administration. He's had 2 cracks at the Afghanistan apple and fanned on it both times.

Good riddance.

the corruption wont stop because dems have one more person and are the majority. and headroom wont me made as well the same fighting will still go on as before.

think rumsfeld just decided it wouldnt be in his best intrest at this point to stick around. now that the dems are running the show they would have gone straight for him.

, any proof on that statment, just throwing this out there because running the pentagon, and armed forces is a little different than running the CIA, NSA, and FBI. May have recieved intel from these agencies but he has no control of them.

Second of all the phone international calls that were tapped were incoming/outgoing phone calls to states like Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia. Explain to me why the American government would want to listen into your phone calls, hmm maybe they want to know what you got running under the hood of you car, what kind of stereo you got hmmmm....... Anyways never agreed w/ Rumsfeld policies and think he is relic of the cold war. Hopefully definitly not holding my breath, this new guy that seems to have plenty of intelligence expierence can change some of the policies Rumsfeld failed miserably at.

allowing it to continue when he was in a possition to expose it for what it was is as bad as being directly involved in it. besides i HARDLY believe the pentagon as a whole had no direct involvment in those issues.

i disagree. first of all we now have a democrat as the speaker of the house AND the first female at that. THAT alone will change the way the whole operation is running. it may not be noticable to the common public however there will be significant change.

and the dems having power is definitely huge in what bills will be passed. if the dems had power when hr6166 was being passed there is no way it would have. or it would have at least had much more opposition. the bill is a disgusting representation of what the current republicans in power stand for.

you say not much change will happen but then go on to say that rummy resigns because of the shift in power. your telling me that the head of the pentagon resigning as a direct reaction in this shift in power isnt headroom? and that was on the day after voting!

At lerast now we have the blohards and the bombasts fighting each other, so they'll spend less time reducing our liberties. Now we just need to beware of anything that is "bipartisan"

What is funny is that Robert Gates probably had more to do with Homeland spying. I have yet to see any link with Gates and NEO CONs yet....

Also just because Rummy stepped down from Secretary of Defense. Doesn't mean that he still isn't involved and doesn't mean he is leaving the Pentagon.

Good, lets see how bad the Dems do, I honestly wish someone would blow away the capital building, we need a completely new set of leaders. Its definitly time to get fresh faces .Its bad when the same guy can serve in a Senate seat for a lifetime.

that is against logic. I SAID that the dems would not have passed hr6166. so the same bills WOULD NOT be passing.

republicans are against raising minimum wage

one of nancy palosi's first agendas as speaker of the house is to raise the minimum wage

I can go on and on with things that are going to happen with dem power that are not the same as if reps would be in power.

so i really cant figure out what or where in the world your coming from when saying everything will be the same....

So you raise miniumum wage, expect to pay for it in your next meal at a restaurant, raising minimum wage does nothing but hurt the consumer. A person maybe makin more in wages but I hope that person is willing to spend some extra money in the process for service. If you want more money work for it, dont expect the government to make it so that you get more. You get raises when you work hard not when your lazy. Im expecting a whole lot of nothing to get done, dems will have trouble passing laws when Bush vetos them. The one thing you might actually see get passed is an amnesty law. God I hope not cause all that will do is increase illegal immigration.

raising minimum wage has NOTHING to do with wether someone is a hard worker or not.

its called human desency and giving people a fair wage for fair work and that it is a realistic salary that they can actually live on it.

anyone who doesnt want to raise the national average of minumum wage to something ABOVE 5.15, i feel are selfish and have little respect for their fellow human beings.

you want people off welfare yet you dont give them a wage that can keep them off of it.

i'm wondering how many of you are willing to work a 40hr week at 5.15 an hour, raise a family, pay the car payment, insurance, bills, and still be able to put food on the table, and a roof over your head? By a count how many of you can live off 18,000 dollars annually, with a family, without living with mommy and daddy? I know i couldn't, i feel that the federal wage needs to be raised. Come to think of it, it must be nice they can vote in Congress to give themselves a raise, but when it comes to people like me and you, they dont seem to give damn.

If you still make minimum wage when you have a wife and kids you're really sad.

Hell you gotta do what you gotta do. I worked 2 minimum wage jobs for 3 years. Started at 8 am and worked till 9 pm. And during the Christmas shopping season I worked till 11 pm. Then I got a pretty decent job for a year and a half before I joined the army. Now I'm going back to work at the same place until I get into the prison system , which starts out at $14 an hour.

And right now if you take my unemployment and my wife's wages we would be making about $22000 a year. Sure we aren't able to splurge but we are doing just fine. So if you budget your money correctly, yeah $18,000 is a little low but if you want more money you gotta work for it.
