The title sounds a little aggressive but I thought I would get you guys attention.
Mainly I'm a bit disturbed at things going on on the ORG. You always hear from people who have been on here for 4 or more years saying "The org has gone down hill". I personally have been here for about 2 years so I wouldn't know...but I do know that things should and can be better.
One of the things that disturbs me is the lack of appreciation for the bash. Yes, I went to the bash. I personally enjoyed myself. I met alot of people I didn't meet last year (Lenko, cannonfodder, Darkstars etc), it was a great location to have a car show and the track was decent. There were very small things I didn't like for example the Bikini Contest (it was more like a peer pressure contest but it was entertaining) & how they wouldn't let people race if they didn't have long pants or sleeved shirts. Those are little things.
I was VERY surprised to come home and see how people were saying that it wasn't fun, that this sucked for this reason and that sucked for that reason. I don't think many people know or appreciate the hard work it took to even have a Bash happen. Tim Schilling dishes out money so we can have a good time and what do people do? Go on here and complain how they didn't have fun? Fun is what you make it. If your going to sit at your hotel and bitch about how their not together like last year...than that's your loss. Drive 15 min to the Super 8 and hang out and stop moaning and bitching. Quit bitching cause you think that there were less cars at this bash than last year...who cares? Your there, enjoy yourself. I sure as hell had a good time because I was away from work, my house and my mother. Being able to relax once a year is enough for me.
Yes, for some of us we drove 9+ hours...I myself drove 12 hours to get there and 12 hours back, yes the drive sucked but it was worth it. If John Lenko can make it to the bash after driving 40+ hours with a smile on his face, you shouldn't complain.
Aside from the bash...lack of manners is being like a virus here. I personally see JBO as a place where us as one of the "underdogs" in the Sport Compact World can come together and be like Brothers and Sisters amongst each other. I do see this happening but are the people who don't show this. For example, some of you probably read this, in the Newbies forum someone asked about where to get stickers, all of a sudden here come these jerks who see a topic saying "Stickers" and want to bash the person because they think "Stickers are gay". Seriously, if you don't like something that someone does to their car, why do you care? Why are you sitting at your PC trying to put someone down cause they have something on their car you don't like? Does it make you feel better than them? I see people like that and it makes me mad. Of course everyone has different tastes, different styles and just overall different approaches to cars. If they want to put APC stickers all over their car...let them, IT'S NOT YOURS!
Instead of people being helpful, there is being more criticism. If someone asks you what kind of exhaust setup to get, either answer their question or don't. Saying to them "Use the search button" is just a plain rude thing to say. You have to look at it from their shoes...you don't know much about cars and you need advice on what header to get and your serious about your question. You ask which is better or what to get and then someone has the nerve to say "Use the search button"? Come on...they want to get a majority advice to their post, not to someone elses. I don't care if someone asks a question that has been posted a million times, I answer them whole heartedly and honestly.
To people who have other vehicles than Jbodies that come here. I would never put you guys down cause you don't own a sunfire or cavalier...some people like cars that they don't have (for example I like Camaros but I don't have one cause I can't afford it). I appreciate the people who have other cars and contribute to the site in a positive manner. But there are the ones who are ONLY members here to talk trash. There has been plenty of times where in the Versus forum there could be a race between a Cavalier and a Prelude and all of a sudden BOOM, 10 posts from Prelude owners that DON'T have a profile and don't post regularly. That is sickening. Also, there are the people who compare their vehicle to ours when they aren't even in the same category. If someone says my car runs low 15s, don't reply to them saying well my Camaro SS runs low 13s with bolt ons...seriously no one cares. Your insight and cockiness is not appreciated.
I think people seriously forget what it's like to be new to something and don't put themselves in other peoples shoes. I don't know...maybe it was the way I brought up but I follow "treat people like you would want to be treated" saying.
I'm sorry if I'm just ranting and raving but I just wanted to see if anyone agrees with me. I try to come here to help people, have a good time & meet new people. It disgusts me that I see some people who just come here to give opinions about something that they know nothing of or to just plainly put down people.
I think that the JBO can change if they actually can take a moment to think before they post. I'm not trying to bitch about the JBO being this and that...I love the JBO and personally it's changed my life for the better. I just want to see this place get better instead of get worse.
That's all I have to say...do you guys agree with anything I say?

i agree. but when you get 28,000+ people together, there's going to be trouble makers and people who can't get along. the other moderators and i try our hardest to keep people in line when those differences become ugly, but it's a thankless job. it really would be nice if people would get along... but then again, peace in the middle east would be nice too.
complaints about the bash are pretty lame. it was my first bash, and for the most part, i had the time of my life. i got to see so many people that i wanted to see and made even more new friends. hell, i just wish i could go back to that weekend and have even more fun. my thanks goes out to Tim and everyone else who helped with the bash, and also to those of you who were there and had a great time.

nuff said.........but I totally agree with you man haha! I was pissed that the people were throwing a fit because Im one of those people that look for the good in things! I'd be glad I made it with no problems or made it back home alive from an event so far away and so on and so forth! I'd rather say, wait till next yr, than, this yr sucked balls yO!

I know of couple of personal friends who dont post pics of their car on the org, and like myself dont post pics of it.
Because on the org unless its turboed or "JDM" , then it really isnt worth looking at right?
Plus the org revolves around a select few , its very hard to earn respect ,a good comment or even a thank you. You can offer the best advice you have , or give someone the knowledge that you know alot about , and as soon as someone with a nicer looking car posts, then your post is completely forgotten about. Its ridiculous, but its true.
And the biasness ( if thats a word ) towards the higher modified cars is horrible. I remember the post when Darkstars posted that he got his new c/f emblem and everyone posted they loved it , and it looks so good. But someone else does it , they get flamed.
Same exact thing with Darkstars lambo door post, he just got them to attract attention , and everyone posts how nice they look . Then Bomex03CavalierSedan puts up a post about his new lambos , and he gets flamed because their "out of style" .
( Not hating on Dark*s car at all ) But ...
What the hell is that?
Thats what bothers me the most about the .org , and beleive me i love this place to death , and its served it purpose, to help me gain knowledge about Jbodies , but whats it matter since im not a top dog with a highly modified car
.
people are whinney crybabies who take things too seriously, that about sums it up.
-Borsty
i think that goes along the lines of some mods look good on one car, but not on another. case in point: the lambo doors. personally, i think they look good on a coupe, but not on a sedan. i know there's others that feel the same way. color of the car has a lot to do with it too... carbon fiber on silver is pretty hot, but might not look quite right on another car. hell, i know a lot about people not liking a car because of the color of it. lol. everybody has different tastes, and when the overall look of the car is well done, they will get more respect than something that looks pieced together (not referring to any specific cars, just in general).
DJ (Jersey Kid), I fully understand what your saying. There is favoritism but as far as getting thanks, that all depends. I have seen people thank all types of people but it really depends on who the person is that your looking thanks from. If they have manners, they will thank you. If more than one person gives a good answer then usually they will say thank you to them or everyone.
I think your right about some things as far as respect. I think that people see that you can build a nice car than you must know what your talking about with my question, which is partly true. Someone can have a completely stock car and know what they are talking about. But for the most part...people here aren't stupid and biased. If they respect your advice, than they respect you. I'd honestly rather be respected for the work I've done than what my car looks like.
I know that building respect takes a long time for you to get recognition. You have just started to really get involved in answering questions for people. I've been doing it for a while now, so people recognize me more and they also recognize my car more cause I'm more of a pic whore lol. But I understand what your saying, appreciation is nice.
All and all...don't answer peoples questions for respect but do it to be helpful (which I think you are doing). As long as you respect yourself and stay true to yourself, your all good.

I joined the org on Oct 9th, 2002, and have been reading way before that. I personally pretty much just come on here now to just look at pics of everyones ride. My car is finished like I told ya buddy. Am I gonna post? Nope. I love my car, other people love it, and thats good enough for me. So lets all jump back on the bandwagon. I agree 110 percent with you bro.

killa you know I agree with you !! I think we were the only ones on more then one occation to defend a newbie cause someone wanted to be an ass. I realize that maybe I myself have posted stuff that I later regret, sometimes right after I hit the post button,
but I appoligize afterwards try to turn around my mistake and make a new friend. I
believe you and I didn't see eye to eye at first, now we useually back each other up when someone else starts haten. My first post here was in answer to a spring question and when I said I didn't like a cartain aspect of them and modified a factory rear set I got flamed like there was no tomorrow. I was new, and this is my 1st sport compact car, and suddenly I thought the whole org. was full of people like this guy. I
considered never coming back and it was only my first post. What changed my mind?
well I can't remeber who it was but they took up for me and the other dude went away.
I thanked them and now here I am trying to keep it from happening to others. Even if
I don't like what your doing to your car if I know how to help you I will. I'm getting ready
to drive for 30mins down to Crofton Md to try to help SlaminSunfire out. He has a red Sunfire with the Cav front end and TONS of work to his car. He has an airride suspension on it. Now myself personly I think air ride or any hydrulic type suspension is a huge waste of money. But I still set my alarm clock for 6:00 am so I could go help him. Last night I spent 2 hours helping out a friend whos girl friend had just rear ended
a pickup truck. now she doesn't need a body shop just a drivers side headlight.
I'm not a saint and I dont pretend to be one but Killa is 100% correct. treat someone
here the way YOU want to be treated.
AND STOP HATEN ON THE NEWBIES!!!!!
Yes you may have a good point about purple flames not looking good on an orenge cavalier. But since they don't want to do it to your car just help them out if you can.
If not don't be ignorant to them remember at one time you were new and did some stupid stuff too. But how many of you would have come back if someone called you
a "stupid ignorant ass" the first time you posted? I know I almost didn't.
Killa now this was a great post well done my friend!!
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Hey jackalope. I knew you would agree with what I have to say. Me and you are a dime a dozen...I hate when people pick on newbies cause alot of time people forget when they were. I remember when I had my old car and I bought everything from Auto Zone and strauss for my car and thought it was cool but I didn't know any better. That was years ago and I've learned alot because of the ORG. I know what good comes out of this place and I don't want people to be turned away from us when they can learn so much from people who know so much.
Yes, I have seen where you said something maybe a bit harsh (in your own standards) and you apologized for saying it. It takes a real man to admit their mistakes. When your wrong, your wrong...simple as that.
By the way...I really don't remember not getting along with you. Like I said in another post, hit me up on AIM/AOL or e-mail me. I like to keep in contact with good positive people.

WHy is it threads like his always seem to have my name involved it in...
first of all I would not consider my car a highly mnodified car... I don't even have a body kit. As for the eveyone saying they liked the emblem ect.. people remeber what they want to, not the whole story, there were also comments from people bitching that I made a thread with 2 pictures about throwing the emblem on calling me a pic whore ect... I'm well known around the .org but that doesn't make my car any better.... you know @!#$ this I'm not getting into it again.... I just had this whole conversation last night......
read...

Well Darkstars , i didn't mention your car as a negative thing , i mentioned it because of what i had remembered. And your right , i dont remember ever little comment on what was said , but i do remember the emblem thing.
Its not a big deal , it was just an example , but i was in a @!#$ty mood last night when i wrote that , so im sorry.
a lot of people on here are crying little bitches. like not getting a part within a weeks time. then coming on here to cry about it. like that gets anything done
or when a person asks where to get a part. you give them a link. then they cry about how expensive it is
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
nj hoda killa^^^^^i co-sign with everything .............there is a big double standard on this site. the way i look at this site .....me personally i feel as if the members with the sponserships get recognized and credited moreby others on here than the average working members that personally fund their rides with their own money. yes this site definately needs more respect by its members. everyone has to start somewhere.

Haven't gone to the bash yet, and I don't think that's going to happen in the near future, mainly because of work constraints, etc, but who knows, maybe next year.
I've been on the org for a LONG while (much of that was as a lurker) and the lack of appreciation, sure.. it happens. Minor fact of life that a lot of people are going to be getting together, and there will always be a couple of ass holes. You're not doing things for them specifically, you're doing it for the ones that will enjoy it and not be pricks, even though you won't always hear the thanks from them (manners I guess).
For car shows: I think there oughtta be an amatuer, professional, and overall category... and have a different set of judges for each. I don't really pay attention to bikini contests, beauty to me, is in the eye of the beholder, and judging on its own with the only criteria of looks is pretty shallow, that's just my opinion.
Transeat In Exemplum: Let this stand as the example.
The .ORG has always had sh!t-disturbers on it. The only thing that seems to come and go is how much attention we spend on them...
I gave up caring years ago... makes for a much enjoyable .ORG experience
<a href="http://www.lenkorules.com/"><img src="http://s93165229.onlinehome.us/images/misc/redsig.jpg"></a>
.........AND something else that really gotten crazy, is when people get on this site and ask "do you think this would look good on my car" half of the people on this site need to grow some balls, and mod their rides for them and not everyone else.and stop being afraid that theyre gonna get flamed for what he or she does to their ride......its childish. im so glad this post was made.
ClassGlass / RkSport / Eibach / Motegi / Ractive / Borla / K&N
Well, for that, most people don't want to be different because somewhere along the way they were taught that different=bad.
It's a larger societal problem, but that goes a wee bit outside the scope of a post
Transeat In Exemplum: Let this stand as the example.
its like anything else in life.....there is more good than bad, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease. complainers and whiners and people like that get much more attention than the polite people with manners.
i remember back in the day, when people posted pics of their car, there werent many "thats gay" or "thats rice" or whatever other insults. back then most people would be like "ehh not for me" or "well i dont like this or this" but would usually end their post with "good work man, keep it up". i remember that and i liked that, so i try to still do that. i dont care to let someone know that a particular mod isnt my taste, but i try to be as polite about it as i can. and i also try to end it with "keep it up man".
so yeah, there are alot of jerks on here. but if you do your part and try and be positive, then others will follow suite and take notice. lead by example.
I got an orenge Cavalier to be different. I had thee first one in my whole area, now
they're everywhere. Remember always be a leader not a follower. Or you can think of it another way. If you ain't the lead dog then the sceanery never changes. Don't ask
others if you should do something, its your car and if you like it then do it. The next thing you know you'll look one day and everyones done the same thing to there car.
Just remember to have fun with whatever you do and it wasn't a waste.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I totally agree. There's tons of people on this site, good and bad. What I never understood is why for some it seems so hard to be nice about something.
Like was said before... if someone posts up something they just did to their car, I'm not going to say "what a fag" or "that's rice" or "omg that's the ugliest thing I've seen"... I say more along the lines of "Hey it's not my taste personally, but as long as you like it that's what's important" or "hey it's not to my taste personally, but it looks like you put a lot of hard work into it, keep up the good work!"
People need to learn to respect each other and the fact that everyone is different. If we were all the same... life would be quite boring eh? We all have different likes and dislikes as a group... and there's nothing wrong with that. But some people can't accept that, and like GAM said, it's almost like different=bad. For the most part to me, different=good.
I go into the exterior forum most to help out others, since I'm an auto body tech/painter. I can't tell you how many times I've seen "how much will it cost to put on my body kit and get it painted" or "how do you do Sunfire evil eyes?" or "I want to use a rattle can to paint my body kit" or "how do I do this..." yadda yadda. Yeah sometimes I get frustrated at answering the same question... yes sometimes the search button comment is warrented if it's something that can be generally answered and doesn't require specifics... but usually I just suck it up and answer them in a pretty nice manner...
About the only thing exterior forum wise that does tick me off is when people go on there and say "I know nothing about body work or paint, but could someone tell me step by step how to install my fiberglass body kit that I got off of ebay, fix all the imperfections, mold it in, prime it, sand and paint it? what paint do i use? can I use a rattle can?"... I do know some people don't realize that auto body and paint work is NOT something you can learn online... it does take skill, an artistic eye and attention to detail, and training on the proper ways to do things... hands on. But when you answer them and they're like "oh well it can't be that hard"... I guess it's just personally insulting how everyone thinks everyone can do it and it's soooooooo easy... ok....
sorry bout that... just ticks me off sometimes lol. I've been on here for almost 4 years now, seen a lot of people come and go, seen a lot of questions... but yeah.. people need to remember that at one time we all didn't know anything about cars, or our cars in general. No one is born with unlimited automotive knowledge. I can sure make a car look pretty... but when it comes to mechanical things... I'd rather not touch them without the eye of someone that knows what theyr'e doing lol.
We need to learn to respect each other more, and not be so darn ignorant.
personally, i think in that thread, Tom was the one who made the first mistake. im sure he knows he has an automatic tranny, and knows what a clutch is. what should have been said was asking in a polite way if he was either planning on doing a tranny swap or make sure he knew he didn't need the clutch for his automatic. Tom said it in such a way that sounded very condescending. granted, the guy's reply of calling him an idiot was no better, but the whole situation could have been avoided and a lot less name calling would have been thrown out there if instead of the comment that was made, a little more helpful or polite comment was made. that's just my take on it anyway.
I agree, he said it with a rude tone to begin with but it was in an attempt to try to figure out why a clutch is needed and the guy just turned into a dick and went off on him
You can't choose who posts in a thread, but you can surely choose how you respond to an ignorant post.
If you have to dump in imperatives like "you idiot" or "douchebag" etc. it may bare consideration to re-read what the other person said, or walk away from the puter for a bit.
Posting pissed off doesn't help.
Personally, I wouldn't want the job of Moderator because half the people that post would be banned.
