ok this is for everyone who is not looking to cut the wires ends off and add to 00+ plugs and also wants to retain it to plug in play so if you ever decide to swap back. what i came up with to merge to two plug ends together. below i will give you a step by step on how i did it. i will also recomend in deleting the DRLs while doing this to avoid wiring back in the DRL relay. which also can be easly add to the merge harness if you feel the need to do so. i will have the diagrams below so you can figure out what wires go where. now onto the fun.
i will start with the diagrams. basically they are of the two head light systems. for the turn siganls i used my hanes for the 97 harness and used the same wire colors for the 00+ side with it working perfect.
00-02
96-99
with looking at those i came up with these.
so after comparing my two drawings they started looking very close. the main thing i noticed was the washer plug and air bag was add into the harness besides that there was only one wire difference between the two plugs. which was what i called the drl reference wire. which is what you would have to add the relay to use it. so i just left it unhooked with the other wires not used.
from here i will make you a parts list.
one female 00+ plug end with 2" of wire
one male 96-99 plug end with 2" of wire.
butt connectors or solder(your choice.)
electrical tape
wire loom.
now if you reference my pics/labels above you basically line up the letters on each and connect them as
97 harness 00 harness
a) brown/park lamps a) brown/park lamps
b) pink/left high b) pink/left high
c) blue/right low c) blue/right low
d) empty d) yellow/air bag
e) empty e) empty
f) green/horn f)green/horn
g) orange/left low m) blue/left low(only mismatched color)
h) lt blue/left turn i) lt blue/ left turn
j) blue/right turn j) blue/right turn
k) empty k) blk/wht/air bag(not used)
l) orange/right high l) orange/right high
m) lt grn/blk/hb and DRL indicator n,o) not used
n,o,p)empty
make sure you look at the diagram i made above. the 00+ harness is pinned different. it will screw up you connecting the correct blue wires and orange wire.
this is the only one not color matched.
after you are done you should have some thing that looks like this.
then i cleaned mine up and added the loom to make it look like this.
to me this was will worth doing as if i swap the rest of the car i don't have to pull all that out to swap the harness as well as if i switch back over to the pre00 headlights.
i hope this helps alot of people who are coming into this delima of weather to hack it or not,

A+
how long did that take to do?
i have about 5 hrs in it. hardest part was trying to find the wiring diagrams. but if someone reads and follows what i posted above they could have the adapter made in 20 mins or so.
excuse my ignorance but im confused as to what this does. with that part are we able to simpley swap over the headligh wiring harnes from a 00-02? or am i missing something
once again srry

Yes, or you could go from 00-02 lights to 95-99 or vise versa with this. This just makes it so you don't have to splice/ cut up your stock harness for easy swapping.
Edit: for my poor reading skills lol

MRThompson, I'm just curious why you didn't go with a 00 harness. It's also plug and play.
Not to take anything away from your write up as it is nice to have options

thank you for clearing up my confusion oncleancav
so the same princliple should apply for swapping any of the 3rd gen jay front ends?
also srry for my bad spelling
So I like the idea of not slicing into my harness. Too bad these instructions are not for the 1995

Not sure if it's the same for 03up.

Is a 95 headlight harness different then a 99? Iv looked at a few 98,97,96 and they all looked like the harness on my 99.

had a 01 harness in the garage and the 97 harness was already cut up. this also doesn't limit it you to finding one year range.
yes the 95 is different. i did not look but could to see what it would take to make it work if you wanted to.

That one plug is 03' to 05' not 00'-02'.. Are the pins the same? Because the 00'-02' looks like then95'-99' plug..
Everything I posted above is correct. If I said 00 to 02 I meant 00-02. The harness that we're used was a 97 and 01.
Jason, is this the same if I wanted to use my 95-99 lights with a 2k harness?

I am not really sure. I would figure it should but might throw an issue with the drls.
Hmm, I disabled em already on my 97 harness. Darren said I could use an 03+ sunfire harness that will plug into the 2k engine harness.
