I have the standard DDM 35w kit / Blazer fogs on my 02 sedan. I initially put the HID's in the headlights but got flashed no matter how I adjusted them so I moved the kit to the fog lights, that combo is good on dry roads, but now that its the rainy season here in Puget Sound I really miss the extra light from HID headlights. But I won't go back to that so I'm wondering if a 55w kit in the fogs is a viable option. I've read conflicting things about that, and I'm curious if anyone has run them in the Blazer's.
Thanks
DDM recommends not using the 55w kit in fog lights due to the added heat that they produce. So, on that, I don't think I'd chance it. Just stick with the 35w kit.

i ran 55w by accident when i was sent the wrong ballasts. had no issues other then the disappointment from swapping to the 35w lol. I've always wondered if there were specifics to a hid bulb if it could be a 35w or 55w or if that is just based off the ballast. Digital HID doesnt make a 55w 880 kit but when i was using 55w ballasts they worked fine and were brighter. I just never looked into it after getting my projector headlights installed
hey stephen what did you do to your old headlights
Modding my j since I found the org
I have seen 1 or 2 kits that call out a different bulb for 55w kits, but most don't mention anything about it. I have also seen comments that a 55w kit will shorten bulb life anywhere from 10-100%.
I had a set of Silverstar Ultra's from my old car so I put them in when I bought this car about a year and a half ago. I just replaced them with a set of Phillips Extreme +80. I used the think my fogs worked pretty well, but with the different bulbs I'm disappointed in how dim they look. I am impressed with how bright these Phillips bulbs are, my only complaint is they aren't as white as the Ultra's. They were close enough in color my 4300k fogs would bury the Ultra's, but I can clearly see the Phillips, I attribute the difference in color as part of it, but I also think they are flat out brighter, and they have a better beam spread too. They also have a good bit more light spread horizontally, which is what I was looking for.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
