i just painted my car litteraly a few months back gloss silver... and i already regret it. i just painted a car satin black.... couple wknds ago and im obsessed how it turned out. So im going to satin black the whole car. my question is.... should i shave the reverse lights in trunk lid and the key lock? or will that not really make a differnce?... help me decide what to do.... this car is my daily driver and i haul my two kids around in it so it has to be practicle..... thanks guys
You know, I've been here about ten years now and for as long as I have seen you on here... It seems like every other time I check the forums your always making some kind of radical change like constantly changing colors and whatnot. And your always asking our opinion about it.
That's your problem and I dunno what it is, whether you have a serious case of modding A.D.D., or you just have way to much money and time on your hands. Maybe both, I dunno. But my point is it never seems like you ever know what you wanna do and ask everyone to make the decision for you.
You need to take the time and sit down, and really think about what YOU want. Make yourself some goals and look around for ideas and really think about what you want your car to look like. Thats what I did, and the result I got is one hell of a nice car that I enjoy everyday.
Sorry for my half assed rant but I feel like I see a post like this from you every other week.
just went satin black on my sedan i loveee it.
I agree with meckster, all you need is to make yourself happy...i do like the satin black idea
Well you answered your own question... You painted it silver, you dont like it. You painted another car satin black, you do like it.
As far as shaving the reverse lights, seems like it is a bit extra work for something that is useful. Our cars have reverse lights for a reason, and it could be the difference between some dousche hitting you when your backing out of the walmart parking lot. You said it yourself, 2 kids and keep it practical.
ya I had a flat copper zx6r and it looked great but everytime anything toched it it made a faint scratch!
the reason for changing the paint and customizing stuff is becasue i love to do it and that i do it myself. if i paid somebody i wouldnt change stuff all the time. i litteraly can whip out a paint job in a weekend and not spend much money. so thats why!
Ha.... you think I pay anyone to do anything? The only thing I paid someone else to do on my car was the seat upholstery. I can't sew for crap. But even so.... It would be such a pain in the ass to constantly change stuff around like you do. But hey man, whatever floats your boat
He probably doesnt consider it a pain in the ass if he enjoys doing it.
I say ditch the trunk lock and keep the lights. Either way be sure to post up the end results
i wasnt saying u didnt do it yourself. i do enjoy doing it.... its in my blood..... always wanting to change stuff up and make things better!
Seemless, where do you live?...I need a new paint job
yeah i say shave the trunk and i like the satin black idea
This is what he painted satin
I too am obsessed with how it came out, and glad you like it so much you are going to do the same to yours.
To bad it broke a couple days after I got it home and I havent been able to drive it. I was going to clean it up and shoot some decent pics while I drop off that other project for ya.
Ill post up some good ones here shortly, when shes back to running good.

These pics are the ones he sent me before I picked it up. Again, I do promise to post more.
But if anyone else is seeking an org members help with painting thier car, I highly recommend bringing it this way.
