so i was thinking about getting a body kit and i was wondering if they are hard to install like ive never really done any body work like that but is it as simple as taking off the old bumbers and just screwing the new one on or would there be any custom work needed to be done like in a body shop or something

All the side skirts I've seen are of the "little add on" type.
Unless you meant it differently?

If you get a good kit, (usually 800+) they almost always fit directly. However one example I can think of is a buddy of mine had a 97 cavi and the "kit" was for the 95-02... he got Z3 fenders with his kit and they didn't fit his headlights right... ended up getting 2000+ headlights and they fit no prob. So keep an eye on tiny details like that, but overall, kits not too bad to install. I will say right now, I have never done a body kit on a J, but stock panels come off and go on pretty easy. So as long as the fitment is good, its just like putting your old stuff back on. My car's front and rear bumpers have been off so many times at this point (my car was totalled and I have slowly been replacing parts with the proper GT panels) that they practically take themselves off. If you want to know in pretty good detail how to actually get the panels off, check this out for the front end and the rear is pretty simple if you can find all the bolts / pins / whatever is holding your factory stuff on. Sideskirts are usually just a hand full of bolts on either side. I don't think the LS had body side moldings that were part of the side skirts themselves. I think that is mostly Sunfire GTs (Someone correct me if I am wrong)

This is a similar problem I am having. I have an EVO 5 kit from JT Autostyle on right now that took some seriosly gross modifications to even get on the car let alone alignment and brackets. After my experience with their kits (twice now) I would never recommend anyone to buy theirs. I have been researching the Extreme Dimensions Duraflex kits and am getting good replies.

The real fact is, if you want direct no fuss replacement, ABS/Urethane is the only option. If you buy ANY fiber kit be ready for at the very least some shaving and sanding, all the way up to custom bolt flanges and brackets.
