hey there
i got a small problem, i bought a new muffler that people say "vibrant" i good and pretty quiet, i second that, i have an 03 sunfire and i figured it will be half quiet but its very loud. i work about 40-50 minutes from where i live and i got to have something half quiet on the car but in the same time i don't want stock. so is there anything i can put in there to quiet it down or is there another muffler i can try? i been thinking about a regular Magnaflow SS muffler and just adding a tip to it. some people told me to go and get a cherry bomb glass pack or the turbo.
this is the muffler i have on the car as we speak----->http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vibrant-Street-Power-3-Inlet-Muffler-w-Tip-1045-/120456458588?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c0bc3b15c
i have no plans on cat-back or headers as of yet. just looking for a muffler that works for me.
what about a flowmaster? is the superturbo super quiet?

I went from a fart can to a Dynomax Super Turbo and could not be happier. An 8 hour road trip made me hate that fart can
meh, i like my fart can, doesnt sound ricey, generally quite while driving normal or cruising, dont really know aboutthe brand though, it has CLA engraved on it
which is everyone using for the cavalier??? dynomax super turbo... what PART #??? i want single in dual out. stock piping exhuast.
dynomax super turbo...... is it a little loud? what other dynomax muffler is good besides the super turbo?
You can always add a resonator to quiet it down.
1996 Sunfire, 2.2L, 18" Equus/General Exclaim UHP
Alpine CDE-9845
Just throw a turbo in there--that'll quiet it down.
obx sounds deep, with a nice idle...stick a silencer in there make it sound stock
My Dynomax setup. Video is old and has been broken in a bit since. Has a great sound. Oh and don't judge my shifting. It was my first standard and only a couple weeks in =P
i have and obx muffler and its quiet but has a growl to it. its not to bad and very quiet

Do you have any videos of how is sounds currently? Like maybe a WOT/light accel/in car?
I wanted to go take some new vids today, but it rained. Ill post them here tomorrow.
In the meantime, here's a vid i took in car the same day.
Its basically a casual launch where i hung out in 2nd to midhigh RPM.
Oh, and don't mind the crappy mounting. I just used my cell phone holder for convenience.

hope this isn't noob lol but im having my whole exhaust done before i get my car back out next spring from the header to the rear i plan on getting the dynomax super turbo that everyone suggested but what size tubeing would be best to go with?
2.25" or 2.5"
I'm going with a Pacesetter Header, a Magnaflo Hi Flo Cat and a Super Turbo muffler so hopefully it sounds decent on my 2200
The Super turbo sounds OK...would sound better with a resonator, maybe even a glasspack for resonation if you like a little rasp.
Ive got a 22" resonator on the car in the vids, forgot to add.

vibrant sounds like ass and is retarded loud.
This is a serious question, and not meant to thread jack, but why is my vibrant muffler retarded quiet? it's a 2.25" mandrel bent stainless cat back (factory cat and header), with the vibrant muffler. It's quiet. Has a decent sound, a bit raspy, but very quiet. Everyone else says the vibrant's loud and irritating, but I find it to be very quiet, and not so irritating.
I'm running a super turbo muffler, 22" glass pack for a resonator and have 2.5" piping from the header back. I'm not using a tip just 2.5" piping to exit from the bumper.
Sounds good, louder than stock at idle and a littler louder under acceleration.
"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"
I have a Magnaflow Street series. It was about $120 installed (muffler was about 85) and its on stock exhaust. It has a nice deep tone to it and is really quiet when you are at idle, but makes a decent little rumble at WOT. If i think about it I will post a picture of it installed and see if I have a video aomewhere.

I have a Ractive fart can (what can i say, it was free
) too loud for my taste but i love how the tip fills out my rear bumper (ls Sport) i picked up a 30 inch or so resonator so that should quiet it down to something i can stand (and the cops wont notice)
hush power mufflers work pretty good. not loud but deliver the power. what kind of tone are you looking for exactly?
