ok got the ddm 9007 5000k slim ballast low only kit for my 05 cav and they work when i hook them directly to the battery but not through the headlight switch at all, seems like i tried everything from here and i was on the phone with ddm tuning tech for over an hour and still nothing that i tried has worked yet. any help on this is appreciated! the tech and myself are super stumped!
it seems they always seem stumped...
i suspect they might be pretending it's the first time each time someone calls them...
I have 2 ddm tuning kits and no problems at all.
Are all your connections secure? Wired correctly? And are you running a relay in your system?
yes there all secure and no, no relay just what came in the kit they said no relay is required and at least one side should flicker if not turn on and neither side comes on at all unless connected directly to the battery. they said the relay would be a waste of money and im short on that anyways thats why it took me so long to order this kit as it is. I even tried taking the pins out and putting them together directly without the plugs still nothing, and also switching pins around nothing, tried switching the 15 amp hl fuses with 20 amp..nothing, tried the switch the headlights on real fast 4-5 times nothing, got us both stumped. someone has to of had a similar issue in a 03-05 cav...
when i put my silverstars back in they work great btw too so idk. and the guy really was trying to help but you can only do so much over th ephone you know. and we went down the list of everything i could of tried as far as I know so far. but am open to new suggestions.
35 watt kit btw.
you cant tell me everyone has just plugged them in and been like yay its all perfect the first time, not everyone. no way. always my stuff that doesnt work, and wutsup with the fact that mine didnt come with 3m tape on or for the ballasts and no instructions, although I thought the install was pretty obvious but still.
Have you tried to reverse the connections? I know all my GM vehicles needed to have the plug flipped so the wires were black to red and red to black. Take some pics of how you have the connections set up with a description of what each one is. I do not currently have a HID kit so I can't picture it anymore plus I used a relay for all mine.
Also you always need a relay do not trust anyone that says you do not. Replacing the wiring that you fry is going to cost a hell of a lot more then the 15 dollars that the relay costs you. Don't be a cheap ass and get the relay.

well ddm said a relay is not needed on this vehicle or bulb type and also with this bulb type you should not reverse the polarity, i have switched the low with high that didnt do anything for it. and why would i need a relay, how many people on here say oh i just plugged it in and it works great and its been on there for 2 years etc etc ddm tells me i shouldnt use a relay also, wouldnt they know, its their product. im gonna look up the wiring diagram on my cav and see what i can do.
btw can i borrow 30 bucks to buy two relays if you really think i should get them?
Get the relay harness.... that is most likely the only way that you are going to solve the problem. More often then not it isn't necessary right away, but down the road you will need it. Also you should only need one harness, and they can be had off of
ebay for like $10 shipped. Also, for all of my HIDs I had to swap the polarity on them.
i switched the polarity they work. thanks for help everyone. realyl need a relay? i will order one and install it when it comes in, but since alot of people are running without one all together then i should be good to run them for a few days till my relay harness comes in?
You should be ok for a few days, I know that I did it and it was ok, but without it there is a chance that you will fry your wire harness, and may need to replace your ballasts.
I've been running my ddm kit both headlights and fogs directly off of the factory harness, for several months and i haven't had any problems.
But i have the 35 watt ones,i think the 55w need the harness.
Looks like I was right reverse the wires just like every other chevy out there that has a DDM kit. Also you mention that they know their product better but did they get it working when you called or did someone on the org tell you the problem and that's what it turned out to be? Obviously they don't know @!#$. The snot nosed person on the other end of the phone prob has zero car knowledge and reads off a trouble shooting guide that was written for them.
You always need a relay. You may not have a issue ever you may last a week before it fries your wires. But are you willing to risk it? Most people don't buy them because they are cheap asses or they have the mind set of oh this guy is fine so it wont happen to me. You have to think most cavalier owners are kids and they think they are god and nothing will ever happen to them. Well it happens and I will point and laugh when you make your post on how to fix it. Or that you burned your car to the ground to save 15 dollars for you wiring kit. I wouldn't be telling you to get the relay kit if I didn't know what I was talking about. Been running HID for years now and will never risk running a kit without a relay. I didn't have one on my truck at first and fried a ballast in a week due to not enough power being supplied at the start up. Guess what DDM said when I took it to them. They told me I needed a relay kit for my 35w kit. This was the tech that worked in the back not the phone rep. Never had a single problem after putting in the relay kit.
You are welcome and I am glad it worked now get on getting that relay

relay ordered. i would think i could trust the tech on the phone from the company the supplies the product, and that should go for any product made or sold. guess that would make too much sense. damn. he specifically said oh no i wouldnt reverse the polarity on a 9007 kit it is never needed and a relay would be a waste of money and isnt needed. so wtvr. they work and relay should be here soon. ill prolly put pics up when i get relay installed and working.
i fried my harness by running a kit with out a relay. Had to build a custom harness and run it to a separate swith
Looks good and yes it sucks but sometimes the org is a better resource then the company sometimes
Glad you got that ordered and you will be very happy when your not the one posting I fried my headlight harness what now? I am glad that Jovitcus came in here and admitted to frying his. Not many people will admit that in fear of being mocked.

Dude, I get mocked everyday on this forum, which is why i contact specific member directly if i have questions. It seems ppl would rather make you like an idiot than help you fix a problem
ok got my ddm tuning relay harness in this morning and installed, it and WOW SO many wires near my headlights now!! lol but its ok i did what i could to fasten and hide them. anyways, so far they work great with the relay harness but they dont turn on any faster they stillt ake about 5-10 seconds to get fully lit up, they start off blue then get to a nice bright white after a few seconds. but im glad to have the harness anyways.
Here are some pics after the install before i tucked and secured the rest of the new harness.
this is before i ziptied these to the grille, but this is where the relay harness splits and where the relay and fuse are behind the grille
you can see i grounded the relay to the headlight mounting bolt on the drivers side headlight, i was going to use another bolt but it was too large for the ring terminal that came on the harness. works great though.
passenger side
here you can see the harness positive is the black wire on the right hand side of the picture hooked to my battery terminal
a pic with them on
a pic in front of my 05 with the h.i.d.'s turned on, car is off
