Projector HID Fog lights
Sunday, September 19, 2010 3:30 PM
2001 Cavalier coupe, with the regular bumper
I want to put projectors as fog lights.
I couldn't find anything on ebay with a full kit of sealed projectors with the HID ballasts.
Here is what I found:
Glass Projector H3 HID Ready Fog Lamps
And then I will install the DDM Tuning kit.

I will probably cut out the line from the empty slot to install it.

The other option would be to get this projector kit with the CCFL LED, but it doesn't look like it's sealed.

Got some Blazer brand fog lights. They can be found on Ebay....AMAZING.
I used them on my 03, and with the halogen bulbs, the output was truly amazing.

The bulbs that they take are 894, so some 880 or 894 HID's work mint. I upgraded to some hid's later on....894 Yellow HID's.

I agree, these are better than the ones I was looking at.

But as the above three have mentioned, the Blazer seems like a good choice.
Now I see. I read the blazers mentioned on another thread, but I thought it was for the Chevy Blazer...
I don't think the Blazer set will fit perfectly into my bumper, right? I would have to cut out only a portion of the line.
I'm going to look for them.

I'm having a really hard time finding the Blazer brand fogs on eBay.

The HELLAs seem like a good choice.

I also found this new item. It looks really good, and it is much cheaper than the other one. Plus it's sealed and ready to mount.

What do you guys think?

Lol Stephen that's the same company as the "new item" I found. Plus it doesn't say Blazer anywhere...which might be why I had a hard time finding them lol.

Why do the ones you found cost 15$ more than the other ones?

Also, in the ones you linked he doesn't indicate the bulb size, but the picture of the bulb is there. Do you recognize it? In his other items the bulb is H3.

And one last question is that do these projectors include the cut-off line? It's not mentioned, and the pictures don't show it.

Look at the picture. bottom of the front of the projector is says "Blazer", plus this is exactly where i got mine from

Because the other ones aren't blazer brand

They come with 894 halogen bulbs, but 880s work too, I'm using 880 HIDs in mine

"Cut off line" is part of a projector.

The Blazers have been ordered. More from this story in two weeks.

Either that, or I could start learning how to wire the switch into the driver's cockpit.

Ok, now that we've settled the actual equipment, I need to figure out a few other things.

This is the picture that everyone circulates and refers to for the fog light setup:

However, I know nothing about relays and where to find them in the car. Also, I don't care about having the fogs related in any way to my head lights, both low and high.
Additionaly, I do not know what the fusebox is for (the one that says IGN).

What is wrong with running the following setup?

And now, to the second issue. I cannot seem to find, for the life of me, how to wire the fog light switch into the car... I checked many videos on youtube. Most of them only show how to replace existing fog lights. One video showed how to install off-road lights, and I got excited to watch it. They installed the lights onto the bumper, and then they skipped to the part where the wires had ALREADY been passed through the firewire!!! How frustrating!

Also, nothing here seems to mention it. I checked the library. There is something about enabling fogs/highs, which doesn't concern me.

hooking them up without a relay will most likley burn out switches, unless you used a high amp switch, redneck cooling fan style.

Well, in the diagram, the fuse is 20A, so does that mean I could use a 20A switch?

There's an electronics store next to my house that sells this kind of stuff.

I don't mind getting the relay.

My real issue is finding out where these wires actually are and HOW TO GET FROM THE ENGINE BAY TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR.

If you can make a video, if you can find a video, I'd greatly appreciate it. I just haven't seen such a thing. If I see it once I'll be much much better off.

If I don't have fog lights, how will I wire new fog lights to have a switch?
How do I physically pass a wire from the fog lights through the battery and into the interior of the car?

The kit arrived yesterday. In spite of the mix-up they had with shipping, this is the fasted shipping I've ever seen from eBay. It took like 5 business days.
Anyway, I'm heading to the car. Wish me luck.

Does this diagram make sense? There's no relay. The diagram came with the Blazer fog lights.

If thats the one that came with them, then use that diagram.

I just wired mine to my stock fog lights.

I know that this is an old thread, but I was just looking at projector fogs, and remember seeing this thread.

I found these which I know are the actual blazer fogs that have been mentioned before, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CLEAR-PROJECTOR-HALOGEN-FOG-DRIVING-LIGHTS-KIT-EX-/300491982978?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_100&hash=item45f6b7c882

But then I found these from the same company, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ULTIMATE-PROJECTOR-HALOGEN-FOG-DRIVING-LIGHTS-KIT-AG-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5190446021QQitemZ350312751137QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f100 and they seem like the same lights only about $15 cheaper....

Just curious. I am looking for christmas present ideas for my family so they know waht to get me...

Thanks!
