a small project I've been working on today...

Well, I haven't put much time into my car lately, but after three days of yard work and weeding out stuff in my house, I decided this evening I would play around with one of my car projects.

At first glance, you probably think "yup, that's another set of old style APC projectors"...

However, turn them around, and you will see that the crappy projector has been replaced with a genuine Valeo D1R projector unit.

I have always liked the style of the original APC projector lights, but as we all know, the output sucks on them. I hunted around trying to find the perfect OEM projector, and found these beauties a while ago, but haven't done anything with them until today. I'm still working on the mounting, as I want to incorporate a mechanism to fine-tune the aiming of the projectors after the high beams are aligned, but everything fits pretty well. The lens frame doesn't quite sit up against the shroud, but with a little trimming, I believe it will fit nice and tight.

Unfortunately, I can provide no lit shots currently, because I haven't bothered to get the bulbs and ballasts yet. It will be one of the last things to be purchased, since I don't need headlights that work until the car is on the road again, but I felt like tinkering with these, and figured I'd post up the progress.

C&C welcome.

I don't, but I'll take a couple later. I basically just cut the original reflector off the back of the housing to allow the Valeo unit to protrude from it, and trimmed until I got the clearance I needed. Now I'm working on a holder that gives me fine adjustments to the angle of the projector once it's in the car.

The original lens frame was held in from the front with 4 screws from the front, and the housing was molded with bosses for them which stick out the back. I'm thinking of making a frame to hold the projector which screws into the back of those, and using studs and two nuts each, so that I can adjust from there.
