Does anyone know how to remove the fine scratches on a windshield? Apparently regular toothpaste works, anyone try it?

never tried toothpaste...i install windshields for a living and i know of two things that will take scratches out..... stuff called rare earth...dont know where to find but i use turtle wax rubbing compound with a little water it will take slight scratches that aren't to deep...if that dosen't work only other thing to do is replace it...lol
