Was wondering what the best way to stop chips from rocks on the front bumper and hood is? I hate those damn bra's, and I don't want to be that "guy": who drives around with painter's tape all over the front end.
Is there any other way to stop, or at least lessen the chips? Should I just wax the hell out of it?
Keeping it clean and waxed is your cheapest, easiest, best bet.
Okay, thanks for the tip, will do
Staying back further from the car in front helps a lot to.
they make a clear vinyl to apply to prevent this. A lot of newer cars have this on the bottom of rockers and 1/4 panels to prevent rock chips. If you find a local decal shop I'm sure they have some clear vinyl. Then just cut it to the size/shape you need and apply it. I'd probably have the decal shop do it though as they know how to properly apply it to avoid wrinkles, air pockets, and to make it least noticeable.
I don't ride other cars butts, but thanks for that little piece.
The clear vinyl sounds like a good idea. I'll probably give that a shot.
The main reason why I'm asking is because with my last J, the hood and bumper were just covered in rock chips. On my new cavi, I noticed a couple, and I got stuck behind a dump truck. I felt one rock, or something hit the hood, and then just booked it around him as soon as I could. I didn't ride too close. it didn't matter how close I was, i was still get pelted.
I'd just like to put a stop to them or make them not as bad.
Lamin-X makes some good protective films, I was just thinking about putting an order in from them.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
The thing with that film is it's kind of pointless if you already have rock chips. It's meant more for brand new cars or cars with brand new paint. I wish I would have gotten it put on my Vibe because with the crappy Toyota paint, I have a ton of chips already
. You also have to be sure to get a quality film because otherwise it will turn yellow and look crappy over time.
Got it. I will keep that in mind.
