Kind of a n00b question... valve cover removal and paint
Tuesday, May 04, 2010 7:38 AM
Now I know I'm going to get chastised by some of the vets in here who've already broken down and rebuilt multiple Js... Anyway, I have an '04 LS, (my favorite J I've owned thus far, the first I've considered modding) and I want to paint the ecos valve cover. I've never done it before, and I want to know what I should (and shouldn't) do, what parts need to come off, and if putting it back together is as easy as taking it apart. Also, what kind of paint works best for this? I want to paint it black, but I've inexperienced in this subject. Any help will do.

Thanks!

Search before you start an old topic! This one doesnt include painting. But the prepping for paint should include many of the first stages of polishing. IE sanding to get ride of uneven water spots.

Prime, Paint, And clear with whatever youd like! I suggest high temp enamels.

Regular automotive paint will hold up.
