dewalt buffer and pads

Afternoon all.
I do a lot of paint work on airplanes with single stage paint. Up till now I have been buffing with a random orbital buffer my boss got me. I would like to move up to a Dewalt 849. Where do you body guys usually get your pads and compound from? I just am looking for a reputable online company to compare prices with.
Thanks ahead of time.

dewalt and milwaukee make the best buffers hands down, there are plenty of places to get them from, u should check for local shops tho, as opposed to online, look for detail supply places, or maybe paint supply. also using dewalt buffer with almost any compound may not be good for single stage paints because it will take some of the paint off due to the circular motion, that is part of the reason for using an orbital even though its more work and they pretty much suck, and they also wont spin as fast, the dewalt spins a little over 3000rpm. i would just get a really good polish and use light wool pad or foam pad that isnt really aggressive, foam pads tend to heat up quicker and will take paint off quicker also

if it can't win a race it better win a show

Thanks for the help. I typically paint with Dupont Imron or a PPG paint which name fails me at the moment. But I am super picky about making it smooth and shiney. So I buff forever especially with the imron which tends to be a lot thicker and more resilient.

For the motorcycles and cars/trucks I do at work. We have the dewalt 849. I love it. For pads and compounds we use Wizards products.. Stuff is awesome. I'll wetsand block some of our harley parts flat with 1000 grit, go to 1500, 2000, and 3000 and the wizards turbo cut cuts quick. I've tried 3M and Mirka and they both have some good compounds, Mirka has a coarse cut that is crazy but I can't leave the wizards products.. Some days If i'm doing a whole bike im pretty much buffing all day and thats where wizards trumps all, because it works, but it also smells good, so its not bad being around it all day because it smells good.

For the airplanes you may be able to get away with using wizard's finish cut and be fine if your not trying to get out a lot of sand scratches. I use turbo cut, then use finish cut because its their less abrasive/swirl remover(amazing on black, and we paint a lot of black..everyone seems to want a black harley..) and then use their shine master polish, then i wipe it all down after washing the bike with their mist-n-shine. For pads we just use their yellow(buffing) and black(polish) foam pads. I don't know where your at, but the nice thing too is Napa carries wizards, so if i need compound, pads w/e before the 6weeks comes when my wizards rep stops in, i can just get it from there. So that could save you the hassle of having your stuff shipped etc.

Don't know how it compares to single stage because i've never had to buff single stage, but I've buffed gel coat on boats with it as well and got awesome results

opps almost forgot to link ya

Cutting i reccomend the meguiars 105 with wool pad
After cutting, try the meguiars 205 with yellow polshing pad
and finish with wathever sintetych sealant an carnuba wax (3M show car paste wax) they bring an exceptional wet look.
