Where do you buy the black plastic trim under the side windows?

I don't know what its called but its called. Its the exterior trim under the side door windows. Its collected salt and its bubbling. Where do you buy this. Everytime I get a car wash I get salt streaks along my doors from the salt bubbles that are caught in this trim.

Bubbling underneath that trip is more commonly from rust.

No, it's a common problem with J-bodies. Mine is also doing it, and I can assure you it's not due to rust.

Only places would be to find something in decent shape in a junk yard, or the dealer.

when I bought my 2000 z my driver side rear section was completely rotted out. I ended up just going to the wreckers and grabbing a couple spare sets just in case. I think it cost like $5 a set

They are called Belt Moldings if you want to know. Dealer can get them for you.. If i was at work I could look up the price and part number for you.

make sure you buy the ones with the outer shell made of plastic instead of the rubberized one. The plastic ones are on the latest gen and the bubbling problem is fixed.

I have the same problem and I was thinking about taking them off, sanding, and repainting them although it may not be worth the hassle.

Anyway, I was wondering how you go about taking these pieces out...

How did you guys figure out how to take them out to replace them?
Did you buy that book that basically takes apart the car step by step? Is there a free version of that thing online ? What's it called?

Thanks for the help everyone

Thr "book" is a repair manual, and anyone working on a car should have one. There is a copy available online for free but Im not going to give you a link. Go to your local auto parts store and buy it for the measly like $15.

If you look at the trim on the car, it comes off very easy but at the same time is easy to break.

There is a phillips head screw on the door, remove it and pull the window moulding out a little with the window down and the belt slides up and out.

I picked up 2 sets for my coupe for $5 at the yard a couple months back.
