Why do you want single stage?
Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

Also NAPA should be able to get you anything PPG.. I know at least here they mix PPG/ICI paint.. They also can get HOK.
I personally like Sherwin Williams just because that is what I use at work and have not had any issues with, and some of their clear coat technology is awesome. Plus not having to worry about adding flex additives in anything is nice as well.
but then again this is 2 and 3 stage paint jobs not single stage..
You might as well just go base/clear since you'll most likely need a new paint job next year with single stage.
I do have to disagree with needing a new paint job next year with single stage....I had a friend that painted his S10 with single stage, and it sits outside as he doesnt have a garage...and its been fine for going on 3 years now...or coarse, he does wax it like twice a year....if its waxed properly I think it can be decent....
As to why single stage? It is cheaper...right now im running low on cash, and I have rust to repair, and I just want something quick and easy to shoot on there and look half way decent for awhile, so I can take care of the rust...then later on I will probably go to PPG or HOK...I just wanted to know if that paint was good for at least like a year and a half or two...
Not trying to be an ass, i know it seemed like it in my replys...im just looking for something, so i can take care of that rust, then later on, ill do the good paint
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
maybe i'm misreading but.. it sounds like your plan of taking care of the rust is to just spray paint over it?
^sound like that to me too
Noooooo lol, sorry, I should have clarified
I will be repairing the rust spots, then priming, blocking, painting, all that good stuff....but I want some sort of paint on there so it doesnt have all the primer spots and crap from where I repaired the rust, if that makes sense? I want it to be painted and be half way decent, to last a little while..im not just going to paint over the rust lol

i feel bad for the tech who is fixing your car, read the ebay add thats IMRON do you know how old that stuff is??? i was spraying that stuff in the 80`s!!!!!! and the 2nd link is just as bad all old out dated crap is what it is
and if this tech in your other thread is fixing the rust, why wouldnt he be painting the 1/4`s the color of the car, and just panle paint the 1/4`s to save on money instead of blending the doors which adds money to the job, but instead you want to paint the entire car IMRON or single stage, for a few yrs, and then ya want to repaint AGAIN with base coat clear coat
that is going to cost you thousands of dollars, we cant paint over imron or any single stage for that matter it all has to come back off or the car stripped down to bare metal, all your going to do is make your self pay more money then you want to spend, if ya do it now with base coat clear coat you will save your self ALLOT of money, if you have this tech paint single stage and then 2 yrs down the road you decide its time to repaint, a complete repaint thats going to cost thousands of dollars, you must have a deep bank account and a deep love for this cavy
save your self the hassle and the money have this tech panle paint the 1/4`s, the color of the car save your money and have the car painted correctly, you will thank me later

Hey it could be worse. It could have been the $50 Rustoleum job.... Not that I have heard great results off of the org on how that went with one person in particular. I would have to look at that link again to see who it was.
i remember no need to dig that mess up again

its all depends on what your looking for... some of you guys are putting a ton of time and money into your j-body... with some surprisingly awesome results, i changed my opinion about how good a cavalier can look since joining here..
But others, myself included, dont care all that much... its a DD to me and i just want it to look decent... ie.. not rust or primer...
i've known plenty of people over the years that have painted their cars with rustoleum, ceiling paint, 3 different kinds of spray paint on the same car etc.. lol... but i have noticed one pattern to it... the guys that actually took their time with it and did it properly (i use that word loosely)ended up with very decent results for the money spent... wet sanding can do wonders! and you have a car that looks a lot better then a rust bucket and your only out of pocket like $50 total and your own time...
I would personally never spend $2000+ for a nice proper paint job on a car i paid $1200 for... lol, im sure many are in the same boat... but that doesnt mean u have to go without paint period... but obviously dont expect miracles.. it wont look great, but it will look better then it did... anything is better then rust really... lol
i agree, some people like insane paint jobs, and others just splash a coat of paint on the car and are happy with it, personally im spening a little bit more on my paint because i want it to look really nice, but thats just me
there are a few pros on here, and i can understand their opinion that it should be done right the first time.. but not everyone has the resources to do so.. or the need to do it at all
But i would imagine a those 2000 buck proper paint jobs involve stripping the car anyways.. so throwing something on it for now wont matter..
I personally touched up a few places just recently.. maybe i got lucky on the paint match but you cant even tell from more then 5' away.. even up close it looks pretty good.. but thats a just a can i had lying around the garage and some sandpaper.. i'll do a better job on it this spring, if i dont get the entire car painted.. but a free 10min fix sure beats driving around like this.. lol
damn, never seen a door rust in that spot before lol
