Does anyone know how hard it is to put on lambo hinges????(bolt on) pics vids please let me know thanks
um.. just don't.. seriously.. you'll regret it. and its not like you really have anything done to your car for them to even remotely look like they belong..
If you need pictures or video then sorry, it ain't going to happen..
- Remove Fenders
- Take a 1/8" drillbit and drill two holes in each hinge and into the body of the car. Doesn't matter where just two holes through the hinge and body while the hinges are not loosened or touched.
- These holes should line up the factory hinge to the body of the car.
- Find the wires, there is a grommet on each the door and inside the kick panel
- I believe the newer cars(00+) you can pull the grommet out in the kick panel and get enough slack in the wires so you do not have to extend them.
- Have a friend or lots of tape
- Make sure the door is shut and latched.
- Have your friend lean up against or tape hold the door closed(or even both would be good) and in position and remove the factory hinges making sure to mark which hinges are which(driverside, top, bottom, etc)
- Quickly replace the factory hinges with lambo hinges and bolt everything tight.(your friend may be getting tired or tape may give allowing the alignment to be off is why i say quickly)
- Check your door gaps and ensure the door didn't move.
- Once your door is aligned, this next part may take 1-3 friends
- Open the door all the way up and hold the door while you install the hinge strut
- Check make sure everything is clear and installed properly and try shutting your door and ensuring it shuts and seals
- Take your front fender and mock them up on the car
- Open/close door a couple of time and see if they rub on the inner lip
- If they rub, trim/bend as necessary.
- Bolts fenders back on and your done
This last step is very important
-Take your Factory hinges that are labeled and with 2 holes drilled in each one and put them somewhere you will not lose them, Because in 1-6 months you will be so annoyed, tired, or the hinges will just malfunction and you will want to put stock hinges back in. Being able to put on the hinges with some 1/8" guide pins or whatever you have, aligning the two holes you drilled, you can put the stock hinges on relatively easy and as long as the holes you drilled line up, the alignment and door will be back to how it was.
That should be it.
if the car is a daily driver then yes it is a pita to have one if the car is going to be show/weekend car then go ahead and put them on i had mine on for about a year or so and finnally took them off due to the fact i got tired of people not being able to comprehend on how to close the door. but from what was said above that is all correct its not hard to do but the alinement is the hardest if you have too adjust it.
ok now how do you aline it???? if its off
there is movement in the hinge holes if u needand a bump stop adjuster time n patence
