Caring for Flat or Satin paint

So can you wax a car with flat or satin paint? What about if it has a flat clear? Im talking a real paint job not rattle can or Rusto or anything like that.

If not, how do you care for a car with flat paint? I was just wandering this while I sitting at work.

the non rattle can flat paint jobs are base coat-clear coat with a flattening agent in the clear. im not even aware of any semi-gloss/flat single stage paints, correct me if im wrong, and its cared for alot like a base coat-clear coat is

I can imagine you can wax the base/clear. Mine is, and the water will bead on it when it's wet. I wouldn't buff though...

If you do it the right way using base coat/clear coat system, Yes you can wax it, you will notice a little more sheen but it wont turn to glossy or anything. You can't wetsand and buff it like you would regular clear to remove imperfections, but Flat/Satin also hides those imperfections. Our flat/satin/eggshell clear, all it is, is a flattening agent we mix in with our regular clear, the ratio of how we mix it depends on how flat we want the clear. Its still clear coat which is very durable.

Now if your talking about rattle can stuff, I think you might be able to wipe it with a soapy wet rag.. that'd be about it.

yes there is its call hot rod flatz
its a urathene single stage uv protected product, i have used it before and i love spraying it, it can be washed not to sure on wax

going the flat clear is fine, like ppg`s flat clear can be mixed to give certain degrees of gloss

and why would you want to wax flat paint when its supposed to be flat, thats being silly

^^Are you talking about SEM's Hot Rod Flat Black? I painted a Camaro with it and i just don't know what to expect from it for it being durable and chemical resistance etc... I have a test panel I've been meaning to do some testing on with it though.

The purpose for waxing flat black would be to protect it.. waterspots etc like any other clear. waterspots show up on black, even worse on flat black. I personally would never got with flat black.. looks to much like primer.. Satin black is the way to go, plus when you wax it you won't really see a difference in it.

Single stage Hot Rod Flat from hot hues looks good at first, but if you use it you better be prepared to protect the hell out of it
It shows scratches like crazy. Clear is the way to go.

You can do just regular base coat and there's a flattening agent for the clear. I bet a flat black with some metal flake would look sweet.
