I've had my car egged 2 times in the last week and it's really starting to frustrate me. Its -20 up here in Calgary and I havn't been able to wash it off until the morning after twice, I know this damages clear coat and the paint, I would like nothin more than to catch the little **** doing this but I'm not sure how to go about it. I'm pretty sure it;s my neighbors kid as this only happens durring the two Chistmas holiday weeks that he is home. That makes twice this year and once last year, just wondering if anybody has any experience with this.
He parks his vehicles on the street across from me I wonder if it is time for a little payback?
put some sand in his gas tank that will teach him .

Brad,
Being from Calgary myself (just recently moved to Vancouver actually), I know what you mean about the low temperatures.
I had a kid across my old street in Silver Springs do the same thing to my cavy.
All my windows are limo tinted, so I just sat in the car with a paintball gun and both windows slightly cracked (fogging issues haha). I saw the kid come out of the house around 2 am with a couple eggs in his hand, I opened up my door, and let him have it..in the face, nuts, everywhere.
I was tired for work the next day, but it was well worth it!
I was thinking about a surveilance camera in the back seat but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a picture of anybodies face, if they even decide to do this again... It would really suck to camp out in it and not have anybody show up.
hot soapy water takes off the egg, but the impacy from the egg chips, so either touch it up or it has to get repainted
can i haz bondo
Hot water + cold temperature = either cracking glass or rapid freeze
I feel ya, I;ve had it two times this yr..@!#$ hapens

You're only real chance is camping out inside or outside hoping he'll do it again or set up a webcam/video from the window or whatever. I don't think these idiots realize the damage it can do when they're doing it, funny joke sure but I don't think they realize it does actual damage. I love the paintball idea thats friggin AWESOME and EPIC lol

if you can see your car from your house you could always set up a camera in your house.

I have seen many windows crack at below zero temps by putting hot water on them. It does happen. I have even had it happen to drinking glasses when washing them, wash them in warm water, rinse them in cold and they can crack.
sleep with his mother and video tape it.. then keep mailing him the copies!

My car was egged last year, left quite a few spiderweb style cracks in my paint. I was pissed to say the least. I like the paintball idea.

and i've never seen this happen on a car, But i've had it happen to my patio door a few years ago...
heat wave outside + central air inside = no more door
so its definitely possible.. but i would think using warm water rather then hot would still remove egg but not cause the drastic temp change.. but dont quote me on that! lol
