cavfire....... Sunvaier??
Saturday, October 03, 2009 8:56 PM
Hey there folks.

I know a lot of guys have done the Cav front end swap on a Sunfire.

But I'm interested to know if anyone has done a full car body swap.
Basically I'm asking if anyone has put an 03-05 LS sport rear bumper on a Sunfire.
And is there any way to manipulate the back halves between the two cars.

Thanks,
-M

You can't really do anything with the rear ends of the Coupes without a ton of custom work.

You would need to swap the 1/4 panels and whatnot far from an easy swap. Not really worth the time effort or energy bro.

it's surprisingly easy. say you have a Cavalier. Sell that car first, then buy a Sunfire. boom, you just did a back end swap!

the rear quarter panels are held on by something like 170+ welds... get over that hurdle and you're golden.

then just swap the front ends over, quicker and easier. As an added bonus, you can say you swapped the rear over just to screw with people.

everything will be fine, just get the mounting pieces for a 03+ rear bumper.

I'm not 100% for sure, but I've found the 95-99 Z24 skirts and the Sunfire SE skirts don't match up correctly.
Only the back 2 clips will fit and none of the end screw holes line up.

Not sure if this is only between the Cavy and fires but it might vary between years as well.

as far as length and other such dimensions, they are the same. you're going to have to play around with mounting points to get it lined up correctly though, but that's not hard at all.
