They should work just fine, looks like your typical hood pin to me

What's so bad about this set? It's pretty much the exact same thing that they sell at the O'Reilly's near my house, but O'Reilly's sells the kit for like $30 instead of $16 (after shipping)

I'm new here and Don't own a j-body yet, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt.

but since your hood is carbon fiber (very light) i see no problem what-so-ever.

people here seem to be obsessed with "you get what you pay for" it's a friggin threaded rod with some clips, i see no reason for them to cost any more then $10 evens if they were made out of pure titanium and cnc'd with diamond tipped tools...

just my 2c.

you try and sit behind the driver seat watching the hood jump up and down and tell me then if you're still willing to buy a cheap set. generally, they're cheap for a reason, more than likely, a cheap grade of rod was used as the main anchor rod and when that was done, it has a higher chance of snapping over the higher grade ones. that goes the same for the pins themselves. could be a cheap set used and could snap at any time. I'm getting a good set myself, then finding alocal place to install them for me. only reason I'm doing this, to clean up the front end under the hood.

I'm going to agree with Nick on this one, considering you can use the factory hood latch as well as the hood pins, there is nothing to worry about. Hood pins aren't always even necessary, but most people use them as a precaution. I also know in some areas hood pins are required for any aftermarket hood. But if you aren't going to put the factory hood latch on, you will want a quality set of hood pins

A lot of people during install dont think about the gaps/seams that they can potentially create.

Just a heads up for whatever pins you decide to go with!

Go with the name brands and you'll be fine with the quality of the product.
Like everyone here has stated, you do get what you pay for and the Momo's I have on the car are top notch and stainless steel so no rust or chipping anodized junk.

Where you mount the hood pins is critical too as some have better placement than others depending on how they're mounted.

Here is where I first mounted my hood pins before I got the c/f hood.

You can see where the pins are located and with the weight of the stock hood, never had a problem with hood movement.

With the carbon fiber hood, I decided on changing the location of the pins as the hood was lighter and moving all over the place at speed with just the latch holding it down;
Here's the pics of the new locations for the hood pins on the c/f hood with excellent results. It was so good that I completely eliminated the hood latch assembly and saved some overall weight too.
The hood pins do a great job of keeping the hood steady without wobble, even at triple digit speeds so no issue with hood wobble. Hood latch is not needed with this setup.

Here's an excellent how to on doing the hoodpins for a J-body.
It's pretty much self explanatory with pictures doing most of the talking.
Good luck with your hood pins though and don't skimp out on quality.
Try to get stainless steel for the best pins and retainers and you'll never have an issue with rust or corrosion.
I've seen many of the aluminum hood pins just corrode away so that's why I chose the Momo's because they were stainless.
I also mounted the retainers on the hood with nut and bolt assemblies so that they'll never come off for any reason.
Most just use a small sheet metal screw but I chose using a very small nut and bolt to mount down the retainers permanently and they still look good.
You'd never know they were mounted with nut and bolt.

i get to put on a set here shortly since i just got my carbon fiber hood...

i just noticed the wobble yesterday on the way home and i think it might have been the upper 80mph on the highway that made it start...lol

ill most likely get rid of the stock latch assembly then since it wouldnt be really helping anything then....unless anyone else has some input on that situation....

No hood latch means anyone could walk up pull the pins and open hood your hood and help themselves to anything under there.

Also, what if some punk kid steals your pins when you are out?

I run without the hood latch because the car stays in the garage and isn't a daily driver.
So if you're daily driving your car, the hood latch would be necessary for any of the above.

I like aerocatch personally.

they're difficult to mount, and you have to seriously modify your hood to get them to sit flush, but they have a locked version that you can only open with a key. I put them on the skwirl so I could eliminate the hood latch and support assembly.

the pin goes through this metal, and out the bottom and threads by the bulb connections for the headlight

underside of the hood

underside on the other side

my hood doesn't align properly because its fubar. I'm getting a fiberglass/ carbon fiber hood soon.
