was thinking after i was looking through a tuner car magazine at work.....
thought this would look cool!
always was a fan up flip up headlights....so...
possibly using a modified 1989 Nissan 240SX headlights [the car that gave me the idea]
or maybe like a mazda RX7 or older miata headlight would fit/work better.
well, i guess my first question would have to be, has anyone done this, because i think it would
be bad ass!
makes me wanna do a fire connversion almost!
and maybe something like this [sorry, dunno how to draw open headlights very well on photoshop!] if they were open
dunno how they would really look open...thats just a crappy 5 sec photoshop of ot, and i suck at guessing what they would look
like, i know they are not the right size, or in the right spot...but that was the best i could do!
anyways what are your thoughts???
looks like the car is sleeping in your first pic.. i havent heard of anyone doing this (though i could be wrong) before, but i have no idea how itd look or if itd be worth the time and effort? could be interesting tho... id say on of the big factors would be which lights you went with and quality of work.
It would definately be different looking but I think it would be much more of a pain in the a$$ than it would be worth...I think you should get a body kit for it first before I did anything else to it cosmetically
Dont be a smarta$$...although it is better than being a dumba$$

definatly, quality of the build would be the biggest thing. if anyone would attempt this. i hope they would know what they are doing, and make it look/work right! i would love to pick up a fire just to try this....but i do not have the time nor the money to give it a try! and i dont wanna convert the cavalier over to a fire...caz i cant do this project to my DD, as i need it to go everywhere! lol.
it does look like its kinda sleeping, haha!
but after i did the chop, i imeadiatly thouhgt of a firebird, which i didnt even think of it looking like before the chop...
just saw a old 240SX and was like, wow that mite look good on a sunfire...and then i thought it looke dlike this:
but we all know, a sunfire is not a firebird, lol!
but just for kicks....
bwahahahahahahhaa!!!!

thats not my car, its actually TheSundownFire's sunfire..
i drive a cavalier...i am just throwing this idea out to people.
because maybe someone actually wants to try this!
thought of it yesterday while at work! lol
before I got my hood, I was seriously considering this. had the headlights from a 86 Mazda RX-7 and all too. but I was having the same problem, didn't want to do it to my DD. maybe if I ever get a second Sunfire I'll be doing that and a 3400 swap.
Wow thanks for @!#$ting all over my car!
Hahaha jk its cool. I always joked around about putting a Thunderchicken on the hood.
I'd say no.....those lights aren't really around now for a reason

they still look good tho [at least to me] and thats y i would love to have flip ups!
...even if they are more un-reliable/less practical. its more of the "badass looks" factor [haha] that
makes me wanna get them/do that with a fire! then you can buy one of those "lazy eye" kits that only allows the
headlights to open half way when u want them to like all the JDM guys, haha! plus how many other fires have done this?
...so far doesnt seem like anyone! thats the other factor that makes me wanna go for it if i had a fire,
the fact that my fire will be one of a kind
One disadvantage of owning a Sunfire is dealing with the butt ugly headlights.
An inexpensive solution is to buy plastic headlight covers and coat them with vinyl film in a color to match the car. The look is similar to what you have shown without the hassle of fitting motorized versions and I cannot think of any vehicle that looks better with the motorized versions raised.
Don't forget to remove the covers as the sun goes down.
i always wanted to do this but its a lot of work. All the power to ya but good luck

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
I've never liked flip up headlights personally.. I'd rather spend the time/money on projectors that make the sunfire look badass imo
I like the idea. Ive actually considered it but ya the amount of effort is not worth it,
to everyone that thinks flip up headlights look stupid on all cars..well u can suck itttt!

lol
i LOVE them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but no, for real, i think the sunfire would look tits with flip ups!

five words: projector angel eye flip ups!
[like John's no cut projectors with the angel eyes]
you should just stay GM and put on some corvette headlights

i thought about it too lol ...just a thought tho

only fire front FTW!
enough said!

it you are serious then look into Ford Probe head lights..I highly doubt you would even have enough room for them to reside when flipped down..... you would have to do a considerable amount of cutting and welding ...
here is a Probe with kind of the 93-97 camaro thing going one:

OR the flip ups
It would probably just easier to do the first option...using your stock housings and then fitting some projectors...!
