i bought a plug and play hid kit for my cavalier and when i pluged it up and turned on the lights nothing happened. now on my pt cruiser my plug and play hids worked. but i know the 06 and up pt cruisers dont give enough voltage for plug and play hids to work. is my cavalier in same situation where it does not give enough voltage for these plug and play hids to work. if this is the case i need to make my own relay and connect the hid wires str8 to the battery correct?

should be straight forward seeing as u have seperate high/lows. i have a relay setup with mine so i can get highs but i have the newer 9007 dual filament bulbs and i know i had to switch the high with the low in the kits harness cause they were backwards from the hid company. also on the ballest try flipping the plug around it may be backwards. it sounds dumb but on some cars i had needed to do that so they would trigger dont know why but it worked and the plug on the ballest goes the same both ways so try that.
i was thinking to swicth the plug up but was afraid to mess it up. i looked like it was on right then again this kit came with horrible instructions.

well what you can try is sometime the simplest of things and its happened to me a couple of times when l've installed them on friends cars.. Some times the plug that goes into the ballast has a plastic guide that shows you it goes in one way but actually you have to be plug in the other way around!!! if that doesn't work make sure that your wiring is done correctly. Hope this helps!!!

X2.
I had the EXACT same problem a couple days ago.
Simple as a flip. If it doesn't flicker, it's plugged into the ballast upside down.
I had one light come on and the other stay off. I was puzzled for days and I actually had to wire it wrong

I had to swap my power and ground thanks to the help of a fellow org member.

ok thanks all, so in conclusion the car does give the right amount of voltage to run plug and play hid kids with out the use of relayharness and going str8 to the battery for power.

i always recommend the use of a relay harness, the cars system was not designed for the heavy electrical load needed when first starting up the ballasts. you will commonly get flickering, which will lead to shorter bulb and ballast life.
