I have read the stickies and don't get the right answer I am looking for. What is happening is the clear coat is starting to come off the
door applique. That be the piece that is black and would be considered the B pillar. I want to sand off the rest of the clear coat and just repaint
with clear coat so it will look good again. My question is, what grit sandpaper should I use and should I wet sand before painting?
Thanks for any help.

i don't think you would need anything to rough for that! i'd say 1000 or higher!

I started sanding mine one day and gave up after half an hour and only finishing 1/3 of one side...using 1000, then I tried 800, then 600. In the end I just gave up and resigned to the fact that sooner or later they'll just get straight-up replaced.
Well almost all of my clear was gone, but it took my like 10 minutes with some 400 or 600 to get the clear off. Then just step down to 1000 to knock out the scratches. I sprayed mine black. Wet sanded the black with 1500 and sprayed the clear.
Thanks for the inputs. Looks like I'll be spending some time sanding.

Get an orbital sander, sand it with 320 prime it, sand with 500, base coat it then clear it...you will be happier with the end result instead of just clearing it!!!
