Any one use a bolt on lambo door kits? How did the installation go, and how do they perform?
I have used MMS and verdical doors, love them both. Installation isnt bad, I can give you a walk though if you need it, just PM me and let me know. As long as you get your alignment and shocks right then your good, and you wont have any leaks. They will shut and seal like factory...just take your time, make adjustments as you need them.

I've installed my own Vertical Doors Inc kit on my car, and 3 other MMS lambo kits on others. The installation was the same for both.
Basically these new hinges bolt directly up to your factory bolt locations. You will need to extend the wiring (comes with the kit) so the door can go up freely. Other than that, the installation isn't hard at all.
It does make it 100x easier to install with the fender being off the car too...gives you more room to work with.
In terms of performance...can't beat factoryright...but they do perform very well still. Just make sure you play with the alignment and get things sitting right and you'll be good to go.
Only issue I've ever had was the shock going out on me...a replacement was needed.
Yeah, forgot to touch on the shocks...only downside I think..

Thanks that helped alot, I am planning on buying a set. Any one know of a good dealer?
Talk to Joe at motified motorsports..heres a link to the site...

Verdical doors isnt bad either, theyre just a little more pricey.
And another thing, to touch on the shock issue, yes, it sucks that lambo doors use shocks that go out like they do, but, nice thing is that they are easy to change. If you need any more help, let me know man. I may have a verdical doors kit for sale if your interested, PM me.

ok thanks, i am looking for a bolt on kit for a dodge nitro 2008
I dont think any one makes the bolt on kit for the dodge nitro 2008 other than vertical doors
Oh, ok, I thought it was for a J body. I'm like 99% sure Joe doesnt have lambo doors for those.

If you have a welder you can get some 1/2'' steel, some misc bolts, and the shocks on ebay for under $100 dolla then make your own. Its not that hard.
David.
PM me with the info on the door kit.
im very interested.
And just wondering on the whole how is the "Make your own" with supplies off ebay thing going to work.....

I was just checking out lambo doors on carlambodoors.com. Does anybody know if these ones are any good? Its only $330 for a 95-05 cavalier, so it sounded kinda suspicious to me. Even though it does come with a lifetime warranty.

DO NOT GET THEM
They are cheap ebay kits. MY friend had a set, and theyre so wobbly.....theyre not very good quality as it is anyway....
Stick with verdical doors or MMS IMO....

Okay that's what I figured too. The price sounded wayyy to cheap to actually be any good. I figured mms would be the way to go just because I can't afford $1100 from vertical doors lol

how comes these kits are 1000 dollars on eBay. there has to be a way to make those little kits for much cheaper than that. i have a hard time believing someone will pay over 1000 dollars just to make their doors go up! can anyone help me on doing this custom? it shouldnt cost more than 200 dollars for any reason.

No, they shouldnt be like $1000.
You pay for the time of machining the parts, assembly, cost of parts, and quality!
I think a fair price is $500-$600.
The verdical doors brand doors (which I own) are awesome, not $1100 awesome in my eyes, but im happy with them. They are very good quality, never had a problem out of them, great construction, well worth it.
Now the ebay doors on the other hand, I wouldnt pay even $200 for. They are cheaply constructed, flimbsy...just all around bad. I have owned a set of them and regretted buying them as soon as I opened the box.
My advice, dont try to make your own, while that is an option, you have to consider, pivot bearings....harder than hell to find (trust me i need one), the just how much time and the machining needed to make them. Save yourself some money and get a set of MMSs...im sure Joe would cut you a pretty good deal on a set, as he always has for JBO people. If I would have bought my doors for retail, I wouldve gone the MMS route, theyre just as good of quality as my $1100 verdical doors hinges.....
In the end I guess what im saying.........you get what you pay for...

So your saying just email Joe at MMS and tell him I'm a member of JBO and he would give me a good deal? Would you happen to know what kind of a discount he would give?

when he did the GP's on his sets, they were $500 shipped. not sure how much he'd charge outside a GP, definitely check out his website.
Check out my build thread!
All right, I know it was listed as like $559 or something like that for my cavalier, but I was just wondering what kind of extra discount he gave you

he said they were 500 shipped so im guessing its something like 60 dollars which isnt bad at all. i know it wouldn't be much more than that just from my experiences with discounts, etc unless they're getting updated ones and need to get rid of them.

Yeah that makes sense. I just didn't want to spend a bunch of money on lambo doors, when they really don't do anything to help out. At least nothing like a functional ram air carbon hood which is about the same price lol

yeah that is true but i do like the look of the lambo doors. i actually want a pair of the back to the future doors that go straight up but their a fortune. now if i can get my hands on that future sports betting book i might be able to afford it. the lambo doors actually do help if you think about it. now you can open your door in very tight spots when you park! it wont be perfect but a ton better than going straight left.

Yeah that's true. I love the look of the lambo doors, I just meant they don't help out your performance at all. But do you mean like Mercedes Gullwing style doors?

no i mean, your parked at walmart and its a tight packed. you find a space and its so small but you thikn you can fit. you fit fine, but you go to open your door and you cant open it any. with these kits the door goes up instead of out all the way giving you much more space. not worth all that money if you ask me but oh well.
