wheres the best and safest place to mount the HID ballasts or whatever you call them, do you drill or can you just load em up with 3m tape and stick em some where. I have an 00 z24 and got the HID's buy it now from ebay
I used self tapping screws and mounted mine behind the corner lights on my 00

that.
dont just stick them there....youll be sorry.
^ I used screws on the ones where I could get at the area, the others I used strong double sided tape (and have seen/known of others who have done it with no problems). Mine are mounted behind the corner lights and the relay box that mine have are mounted on the support frame behind the front bumper. LITERALLY the only spots I could get at without being ridiculously far from the headlight housings. Ive seen others have many options for places to mount on the exact same car, yet I had trouble findin spots that werent too tight to get tools into (hence the end use of double sided tape on some). If the tape comes off theyre not gonna go far seeing as they're wired in lol
Thats just me though. Friend of mine with a cobalt that has incredibly slim ballasts mounted his UNDER his headlight housings

I have really slim ballasts as well mounted on my rad support. screwed in
ok sounds like ill screw one side in behind the corner light and tape the other side wherever i can find room, thanks guys
Here ya go :
Mounted like that on both sides. Remove the headlights and you'll see exactly where I'm showing. No problems on 2+ years now.

mine are with the bumper off and screwed to each side of the black plastic bumper support
perfect picture man. thanks alot, I was gonna take my headlights completely off anyway and paint the housing black. Ill do it tonight and let ya know how it went
mine are located in the square tubed frame inbehind the bumper support
I removed the support, bent the bracket for the ballast so the mounting hole fit around the bolt that holds the support bracket.
Well ventilated area that does not collect dirt or water.
Then I allowed access to the positive and negative connections close to the rad, but hidden for show.
thanks guys but I just tried installing them and they didn't work at all. I got the ballasts mounted and everything plugged in correctly but the ones that were sent to me were a 2 prong connection and my stock plug in had a 3 prong connector. Is that right? or are the HID's supposed to be 3 prong also just like my stock ones?
lol, you need a harness that connects the 2 properly. hit me up if you need one.
yea im such a noob in this. I bought the 85 dollar kit on ebay and i followed the instructions perfectly and the kit included everything. I take it theres something else I need to make these work? does anything connect to the battery?

i got a 2003 sunfire and disabled the drl by pulling the relay now my service light is on how can i get rid of that?....and should i be running a relay with my H.I.D's as well or does it matter? i have Conqour H.I.D's
ALL hids should run a relay.
there should be info in the sticky to fix your DRL problem.
Do I definitely need the harness? Looks like it would make more sense to get power directly from the battery instead of the stock harness etc. I was going to just find out which of the three prongs on my stock harness is the neg and pos. Then ground it! Bang! Ready to go! Or so I thought?
