Tuesday, June 12, 2007 8:46 AM
I want to polish my idi cover. well i am kinda in the middle now of trying to polish it and is the best way just to sand the hell out of it?

Its a long process and trying to get in the groves is a pain and not sure if its even possible.

Any suggestions or help would be helpfull.

Thanks,

im in the middle of polishing the IDI cover too. i washed it down with some lacquer thinner to get the powder coat off, then sand polish the tops of the ridges, paint the whole thing and use paint thinner on a rag to remove the paint from the tops of the ridges. when done the raised sections are polished and the lower sections are painted... thats the only way ive heard to do it. if u figure out a way to polish the lower sections im all ears cause that would look much nicer.

Wow, you posted that in a 2 year old thread? I highly doubt he is still 'in the middle of polishing his too' lol. Just saying.
