*PSHHH* READY FOR TAKEOFF!
In all seriousness, you're better off letting Maaco do it.

Ummmm yea,
About the wing..............Get rid of it.
You don't wetsand the base, you wetsand the clear if it's not flat. Then you will hafta wheel it after.
Proper process is:
Sand all down with 320
Fill low spots, sand again with 320
Spray with filler primer
Spray a guide coat (light cover of black spray paint)
Sand with 400-600 dependng on how many flaws
Spray another guide coat and repeat untill satisfied with no dings/flat spots
Spray with primer sealer with the correct value shade
Spray base coat
Spray clear
Wetsand/wheel if needed
Now for your gun, the quality of the paint job depends highly on this. Usually you want to used a different gun for primer and paint/clear. Primer will need a 1.5-1.7 tip, paint and clear you want 1.5-1.3 tip.
Good luck if your not to worried about the outcome give it a shot, it takes some practice to get it down.

ill agree 100% with him. that's exactly how it should be done. as for the 1500$ that's a pretty damn good deal. our shop would charge around 3000$ for something like that. and i will warn you now if you try it yourself and you've never sprayed a metallic (highly doubt you have) then i guarantee it will be "tiger striped" which is exactly what it sounds like. the metallic will bunch up in spots from improper spraying and it will totally screw u over and will look WAY worse than the sun spots. just pay the 1500 and make sure its done right.
if your just going to have it painted at a shop later than your best bet is the $50 paint job... the $50 paint job is the same sanding and prime work as a spray job. then you use rustoleum gloss exterior finish(ONLY RUSTOLEUM). about 1-2 gallons in the color of your choise. itll take 5-6 coats applied with a fine roller, you have to wet sand the entire car after every coat to get rid of the orange peel and make the coats even if you had some high spots from rolling the paint on. and theres no need to clear, the gloss in the paint is plenty. so once all the coats are on and the wet sanding is done, let it sit for 12-24hrs then go at it with a buffer and a small amount of compound and itll shine like a mirror.
ive seen mutipule vehicles in pics and in person with the $50 paint job and 90% of the time its way better than a macco spray, spraycan job, and even some factory spray jobs. i can go dig up some old threads with pics. try searching about it, lots of info. there was a beretta on here awhile back they did in white with the $50 job and it looked way better than most hack spray jobs. any dumbass with a compessor and gun can paint something......but will it look good? most likely no. with the $50 job theres no way to F it up, just wet sand between every coat and do a good job on body perp.

my $50 paint job I posted about last month. I'm waiting for an excuse to do it to one of the other 2 cars now - or I'll have to buy a 4th car to paint.. lol
I still haven't done the final rubout and wax on it - gonna do something on the hood to match the lower panels. The mockup looked great, so i just need to get off my lazy *ss and do it
