Just wondering if anyone has replaced their Halo LEDs yet.
I want mine brighter, they look too dim during the day.
If so, what did you use/ where did you get them, thanks!

97baggednine or whatever his name is swapped his out with red ones. thats the only person i know off hand that has done something with the halos.
i haven't even got mine hooked up yet...

SO EVERYTHING!
i have done this for a couple people with led angel eyes.
not all the one piece projectors though.
pm me if you want some help, or looking for someone to do it. Also, CCFL angel eyes are in the GP i am running in the GP forum.
did you say your lights look dim during the day??
i think he meant the angel eyes arent easily seen during th day.
hey kevin.
i resoldered mine to red leds. however they're not extremely bright during the day. I guess you could put in bigger leds but there's a very very small circuit board in there.and not much room with the plastic halo.its a PIA to resolder them period but obviously can be done. plus I think you might need bigger resistors to use anything bigger than the 3mm in there. not really sure about that though.

I NEED a 97-99 LD9 engine harness for an auto.PM if u hav info.!!
if you wanna see them during the day your best bet is ccfl, ive been noticing the same thing with mine on both cars, but the loss of light is more apparent in the cav, which doesnt make sence as they are they same brand/style/color and have the same volt and restiance values. try masking off the front and side of your halos then use a chromatic paint on the back side of the halo, they shoud reflect more light outward as opposed to asorbing and refracting the light into the surface behind it. but once again nothing is ever going to look better than ccfls when it comes to light output as they are a compact gas/powder florecent tube with the coloring agents of neons. (color is only there when turned on, when off they are a cloudy white)
wanna change the color and have a brilliant look when turned off or on?
to do this the halos have to change the color of the light not by led, but by the plastic(think buick enclave). boiling the halos in rit dye(your choise of color) for a few minutes can achieve this, the plastic will permanately absorb that color and remain a nice colored translucent plastic. just make sure to handle very carefully when drying and cooling as the plastic is soft and will nick/bend/dent very easy. and after the coloring is done i would use the chromatic paint on the back side as stated above to make the light percing at night and noticable during full sun. any question or pic requests just ask
well the resistance is by color, not size, so make sure you have the proper resistor in for the color you want, but as stated, CCFL is the way to go.
Yes you can get the led rings to put out more light with modification to the ring, but still nothing compared to CCFL.
^ i didnt even know they had ccfls in different colors other than blue or white. lol. i may switch mine to red ccfls

yeah there are different colors available for ccfls, they put out the most light by far and they almost last forever(just dont break the tube). they really are the best thing you can get. just keep in mind ccfls are expensive. if your on a budget and want to change the color and light output the rit dye method gives better results than changing out the leds because the plastic takes on the color. resulting in halos that stand out 100x more when turned OFF in the daylight and at night. at night it gives the halos a brilliant radiance of glowing color around them, as well makes the halos appear brighter and solid (saturation) in color from any angle, unlike clear halos which lose light output, color saturation and go transparent when viewed at different angles. it works because the dye permeates the plastic in the dyeing process. it DOES NOT just tint the plastic, it actually changes the color of the plastic. letting light rays become trapped in the pigmentation of the plastic. resulting in a deep, solid colored light.
using chromatic paint on the back side of the halo will help reflect the light it loses towards the back of the halo, and give a little more light output.
god ur ccfls are stunning even in daylight, im too cheap and lazy to go ccfl

As you can see they are CLEARLY visible during the day... they work very well for the purpose I wanted them for: daytime running lights. At night the light output from them is actually shocking.
If you want to make a move up, see if you can find some properly sized CCFL angels. They're really easy to install once you have the lense off.

Exactly what I was looking for. I saw a new BMW yesterday driving next to me & couldn't belive how bright his were in the day time.
But yeah, I guess CCFL's are what I'm gunning for then...thanks guys. I'll check out that GP.

Wonder what size I need...
watch out with those, they dont have the protective plastic ring around them. They will be VERY fragile. I know oznium includes an extra ring with them....for a reason.
If you are careful, they will be just fine for you, but I would try to snag a set with the protective plastic cover (usually ribbed.....for your pleasure), also makes output look slightly different, and more like the BMW's
Agreed with John. Mine have the plastic protective ribbed rings on them, with the reflective backing. ^^^ THOSE are fragile as heck. A lot of BMW guys complained when CCFL's came out that they broke them easily while installing them - not my idea of durable.
I got mine from IZN trouble in Jan of 2008... I got lucky. The size was perfect for my projectors too... I would think you need smaller ones. Only way to know is to take the lense off and measure, and then see if you can find a set. I think they'll be decently small... Mine were 3" - most BMW setups are 4 - 4.5" give or take...

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
So where could I get reliable ones then?
