yeah, theyre pretty useless. you drive a cavalier, not a ferrari, and dont need massive downforce or that intricate of aerodynamics

I have to say that the image is only selectively labeled. The before image actually shows cleaner airflow behind the car, and the after shows more turbulence, which is another word for drag. If you have a pure track car that can go fast enough for a spoiler/wing to be effective, get them, try them, and see if you notice better grip in the corners.
Just because the car is FF doesn't mean that a wing is useless, just that it isn't
as useful. Having grip on the rears is still important when you're going around a corner, otherwise you'll end up "power"sliding. Emphasis on
sliding. Grip is always the fastest way around a (paved) corner, and particularly so with FF cars (which is why reducing understeer is key when setting up a track car, but that's another whole can of worms). RWD cars can get away with a very slight slip angle and still maintain their optimal speed, but that is only because of the nature of the driveline. Watch a stock car race with a stationary camera set up to look in the direction of travel and you'll see what I mean.
