you should have left it alone

your ambition level is higher than your skill level

btw you never tape off and put edges in the middle of the panel when painting or priming

ive been a body guy for many years, and thats one of my pet peeves i see people do

and I'm sorry.... what you did with the antenna there is one hell of a hack job. Why the hell didn't you at least block the primer and blend the color into the panel?

alright the antenna isnt done yet. i havent sanded the paint to make it blend better, i havent clear coated anything. its not finished. It doesnt say finished does it. it say "i got some work done". doesnt say its completed anywhere. it will be complete in a few weeks. the primer on the side. will stay till i get money for a complete paint job, i just wanted some paint on the antenna to see how it looked. it was pissing me off so i just said @!#$ it and ill finish it before it getts fully painted. its a work in progress not completed yet, this is the prgress i made. and im learning. im not a professional, im LEARNING, god damm.

and i know not to tape off in the middle of a pannel, if i was really worried about it i would have done alot better of a job. i can paint and i can de some small body work fixes. im better with fiber glass then body puddy and all that shet. so cut me some slack. dear god, you people critisize everything. i dont have years of exsperience im learing how to do bigger projects. i do smaller things not this big of an area. so come down some wow. you people go hog wild on tearing people down.

not trying to be a dick

I'm just wondering though why did you spray paint already over the antenna hole? The primer should have been blocked out so it blends in with the panel........ then blend your paint and clear. Because all you did is just make it look like a painted bandage more less.

If you post pictures up, you are bound to get some criticism both positive and negative. If you dont like the negative, you shouldnt post pics.... other than that, I think its not too bad of a job for someone who is learning as they go. Dont really see too many of those cars modded. the only thing i dont really like is the subwoofer box (shoulda been MDF) but i think that was covered in another thread you had somewhere on here lol. Just keep workin with the body and eventually it will look great once its all said and done

iam at a loss of words right now, this is bad you should ask or take it to a shop, i see the outline of the hole through the primer, or maybe its me, how did you shave the hole, and how are you filling the holes on the doors, i sure hope your not just filling with that @!#$ty red glaze, that went out of production back in the 80`s
its going to come right back, bubble, rust, and the whole hard line is so wrong all you did is just make more work for your self now, becasue it has to go back down to the primer you didnt block and you have to start all over again
primer should at least dry 2 days before any blocking is done, if you use an actual automotive high build corrosion protected primer it can sit for a month and nothing will happen or hurt the product, rattle can primer does not have the film build thickness or any other properties it need to adhere to metal, primer should be blocked with 120, 180 then reprimed then, then primer can be blocked with 320 then 400 600, and never do you leave a hard edge
your lack of experience is goin to cost you allot of money becasue its going to bubble or rust , or using the wrong material, you brought this car to me the way it looks now i would tell my boss, at least 7-8 hours per panle to make it right
so do the math 8 hours at 65 an hour, at least 8-10 paint time at 65 an hour, plus material, buff time so on and so on so next time ask for help i have close to 20 yrs in the field, and there are some other guys on here to
so my advice to you grind it all off and start all over again and take it to a shop

what in the world do you use for primer?

the primer I use can be blocked in two hours, and sprayed with base and clear right after. Hell it can be blocked in 15 minutes if you use an infrared light

where i work no rush we let the primer dry, ppgs ncp 271, to soon causes problems, so why rush, car my take longer to finish but the quality is there and we have return customers and keeps state farm happy when customers are happy, so we let primer dry

look i know i did the antenna little wrong. i know that. but i said its not done. i sanded it all down already to do it right. well atleast better. and IM NOT TAKIN IT TO A SHOP, IM DOIN IT MYSELF. im LEARNING, this is how you learn not by payin someone else to do it for you. i have plenty of time to work on the car. its sitting in my shop gettin work under the hood. (which is removed.)(along with the fenders, front bumper, headlight, and the wheels all off.) that way nothing in that area gets scratched. im workin on fixing it up better.

the side pannels had pins sticking out. there are a few holes which got welded shut the puddied. the side tabs that were GRINDED off were just sanded some then put a little puddy thats all there not like foreign cars that are all holes.

i know im goin to get some criticism, but dear god, every time i post something thats all i get, criticism, im not a rich boy, i dont get paid wods of cash when i do get paid, i live on a farm. i do alot of hands on work for free for other farmers, becuz people in general are lazy and cant do hands on work and do a good job. i am a true redneck and luv to rig shet up. thats what i like to do. duck tape, and some wire and its as good as new.

i know alot of you do hard work im not sayin that, im just sayin i dont have a crap load of money so i do the best i can with what i got. i take free shet when i can get it and i work with it till i get it right i dont care how much work is involved i learn as i go. thats how you become and exspert by learning from mistakes and from other people. i know your tring to help but dont make it sound like ive been doin this for years and i should know what im doin, im not the greatest i said im learning and if theres a problem with what im doin please be sure to yell it out. thats fine, i want to know. but if i can afford to do something to make it work right then ill rig it up. or stick with what i got.

so thank you for helpin and whating to point out my mistakes but stop making me sound like im an exspert and should know this shet i dont. so please feel free to help at anytime.

i know the antenna was wrong when i started and apparently i just didnt feel like fixing hte problem so now i need to do more work to make it better.

and i plan to paint the whole car after all this is done so i dont care if it doesnt match to well im not worried about it. i just dont want primer.

OK look were not saying go out and sink thousands of dollars into a shop doing to have the work done. We are saying take your time and do it right the first time. You've post incomplete hack jobs even in your own words you said you were going to have to redo things. That right there should have told you "maybe I should have done it right the first time around."

Your learning thats understandable, but why halfass it?

Take your time learn and do things the right way.

Post pictures up again when you finish it up, and remember if no one told you that your doing something the wrong way then you would never learn the right way.

but dude when it comes to body work you really cant "rig" @!#$ up,, ive worked with all kinds of people so just becasue you say your a hillbilly is no excuse do it right the first time, ask for help, some of the best frame men and fabricators were hillbillys those guys taught me @!#$ and shape metal that no one else could, so dont downplay your i guess you can say your heritage
you post pics of what you did on a automotive forum that has like my self body men, and full journeymen like my self, and we see hacked up work like this your going to get slammed for it, its the nature of the beast
my suggestion to you is to remove what you did and redo everything, and for gods sake go out and get some real body filler, that will last

I think he's off to a good start everyone starts somewhere and not every goes to school for this or does this for a living. its not perfect and is to be expected for just trying something out to learn. Good Job I say and keep it up, tis your car you do it how you want.

Hijacking here. You guys aren suggesting he did this wrong. But how much would it cost if he took it to the body shop to have them do it.

look im not down playin my heritage. i know alot of great people in fabricating were rednecks, cuz they rig things then find out that it worked really well, then do a little better on the riggin, and then show it off. im not puttin myself done by sayin im redneck.

im not goin to be able to afford to paint the whole pannels and all. its goin to have a bandage look when its done but like i said im goin to get it painted after wards.

im using real body puddy, its bondo.

and i know im listening to you guys too. i know you guys are goin to see plenty wrong. thats why i posted on here, that way people who know what there doin can help out some.
