carbon fiber bits

can any weight actually be saved by adding carbon fiber fenders? or is it really just for looks. i want to get them, purely for weight savings and performance, and would plan on having them painted to match the car. however, if no weight is gained, ill stick with the stock fenders

and what exatly carbon fiber produst are avalible for our cars? so far, i've found hoods, trunk lids, skirts and fenders. are there any other carbon products that will remove weight, and arent purly for cosmetics? and dont tell me about RK Sports under-hood goodies, i dont care how my car looks, just how well it performs

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.

99% of the carbon products for our cars are cosmetic only. c/f fenders are usually metal with carbon overlaid, although even if you could find carbon & glass fenders the savings would be minimal, as our fenders do not weigh much to begin with.

for true weight savings, you need to contact a manufacturer and see if they will produce a PURE c/f hood/trunk/fender/etc for you. otherwise anything you buy will only save you a few pounds.

^^^ said it all and really anything you find carbon fiber isnt going to be impact safe i.e. driver and passenger doors. the cost would be quite expensive as well

Not to mention they CANNOT be used for street driving. They have no side impact beams.

Doors are for racing only and not for street use

The doors bolt to the stock hinges and use the stock latch. Windows are flanged for lexan and we suggest the use of a latch at the front top edge.
