Any repair for this? pics inside Bodyshop people please help.

Is there anything that I can do to possibly fix this? It's driving me insane and is becoming a complete eyesore. I tried using a little bit of clear nail polish to fill it in but it turned white. Would nail polish remover take it off without harming anything? I would like to paint the base of the hood and leave the scoop CF but with that chip there it drives me insane.

Thought about painting the scoop? It'd look good imo.

yeah thought about it but I think that it would just seem out of place.

Good luck trying to find a body shop willing to touch CF....

I tried 15 of them around me, no one wanted to touch one at all. If that chip isn't all the way down to the CF, the only real option you have is to wet sand down the gel coat and then clear coat the whole hood.... or paint it like said above... or deal.

Could I just clean it out and fill it with clear coat?

well since u got the best point of view (inperson) u can accually tell how deep the damage is. so it may look pretty good filling it in with clear yet id try fiberglass resign since thats the accual coatting of the hood now.

I'd try using just a lil flat black touch up paint. I had a gouge like that on my fiberglass hood and just dabbed some touch up in it. No one ever noticed.

not sure what made you think that nail polish would work, but (obviously) it doesnt so nail polish remover will also @!#$ with your hood.

sand it down to where it was before and then fill it in with clear epoxy resin that is used in c/f manufacturing. wet sand down the whole area and then clear the whole hood when you paint it.

I ended up cleaning it out and putting clear in the chip and it looks 100 times better than it did before.

clear coat the entire hood. if you dont the uv rays are going to make it fade and look really bad a lot faster. believe me just take it to a body shop and spend a few $ and have it clear coated.

well I plan on getting the hood taken care of this winter, I want to paint the base of it and have the scoop left CF and just cleared over.
