another ? about hids

I always thought about getting some hid bulbs for my 03 cavalier but wasnt sure if i needed to go all out and get projectors and all that.

Can i just throw in some hid lights with the wiring adapter without having to change anything else about the headlight? So they'd be like a replacement light bulb thats all or is it a must to have projectors?

I heard without projectors you will literally blind other cars because of the reflection? Thoughts?

please do not just slap in HID bulbs into the stock housing, it will kill everyones eyes that is driving towards or even in front of you, they DO blind, and it is a much worse blinding than when you drive around with your highbeams on.

I remember seeing a video around HIDplanet (can't find it anymore) show why you shouldn't use a HID kit in halogen housings, and it showed a guy driving down the road with a 4300K HID in one light, and a stock halogen in the other, and you could see a very noticeable difference on ground light output, and also how much glare the HID threw out, it was quite a sight. I will try and find it

projectors with hid's otherwise don't bother it dose blind y do you think ail the new cars have hid high-beams with projectors there's a reason b/c projectors project the light if you actually ever looked at a projector it's a magnifying glass that reflects the beam so it's not as bright and it covers more space granted it's bright but not as bright as without a projector. spend the exrta cash to get the projectors hell i have an old 95-99 set of projectors you could cut up and hose into your lights if you want pm me i'll give you a price.

the "ebay kits" use a rebased HID bulb .. you still need a ballast, and a wiring harness w/ relays to do it. don't use your factory headlight as power for the ballasts.

going with projectors is the same deal .. need all the same stuff, just you can use an true HID bulb (non rebased)

not sure if there are any projector lights on the market for the 2003+ cavs .. 95-99 there are lots of options .. 00+ its pretty much DIY retrofit.

i've seen a lot of ebay kits on cars and there is a lot of glare .. also the light output is spotty at best.

this is the youtube vid DigitalN was mentioning
