Alright tomorrow I undergo a double door swap.... I've already swapped my drivers side door once before and had a hell of a time getting the allignment correct... I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best ways to align the doors..... I've heard that taking off the fenders.... then placing the door in the opening... latching it in then bolting it on is the best way to do it... any other tips?? suggestions?? I will not be doing the swap alone considering the weight of the coupe doors... any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Put tape around the original hinges on the car. Then you'll only have a small amount of adjusting to do. It worked out for me and my dad, which was a relief since I was holding the door on both occasions lol.
i did the hold the door in place while you bolt the hinges on when i did the lambo hinges on my old car. worked for me, but if you trace your old hinges and line the new ones it should end up being pretty close as well.
If you are just replacing the doors and there was no massive damage and the hinges are still good. Leave the Old hinges on. Bolt the new doors onto the old hinges on the old marks that they old doors were on. You have a good starting point from there. Then adjust as you see fit.
well got one done...I think i got really lucky... and I think i figure out the key to doing it.... as suggested above we removed the old door from the hinge.... put the new door on the hinge... only threading maybe half of the bolt thread through..... closed the door (it fit perfect)... cranked down the bolts.... the door actually fits better then my stock door did... took maybe a hour 1/2..... but still have to swap the inside plate so I can remount my sunfire door panels... (doors came off a cav)
that's the way to do it man, and most of the time when u put different parts on they fit better then factory do
I think the thing that screwed us up last time was we had the vehicle jacked up and we were trying to put the door level.. so of course it wasn't fitting... really happy with the results....n ow just got to get the cavi moldings off
