This quote is from a different thread, but what exactly is meant buy this....My evo hood is not flush. the gap is good, but it sits high on the fenders.....anyone know of anything to take the unflushness away???

you can add some washers under the fender to raise it up a tad. i have no clue what hes talking about for the hinge bolt being whacked down

I think the quote means knocking the bolts that hold the hood hinge down further which isn't a good way to go about it.

Try adjusting the hood latch...

the hood latch is all the way down the front. eh....1/3 of the hood is good, then it starts to raise above the fender..... unless there is somethings that can be done with the hinges, i think im screwed...

x2. My hood is the same way. I may play with adding washers under the fenders to bring them up to match. May or may not work.

but adding washers will move ur WHOLE fender....and then ur fender wont line up onthe door...lol

ok here i'll enlighten ya there evo- when i was fitting my ss hood. the dr side was higher by roughtly 1/2" and looked like hell. basically put the bolts in (w/ hinge) take a hammer give them a little love tap. this will actually sink the bolts lower hence making the hood sit flush on that side. how ever it will make the pass front raise slightly 1/8"-1/4" depending on how much u lower the bolts.

now by adding washers under the fender like evo said this will cause ur fender to shift screwing up your door gaps.
yes there's gonna be countless people on the org saying ur doing it worng blah blah blah. this is more of an old skool technique taught to me by my father who has been fixing cars/totals for over 30 years. and wtf it works don't it

now i hope i did a good job of addressing how to go about this. do u understand what i mean? or did i just ramble horribly lol

and in addition. it can take hours to make gaps fit and look correct on a car. i spent almost a whole day just fitting my front end. not including body work and so on

put the polts in the mounting spots on the CAR?? that makes sense i guess...but wouldnt it jsut bend the sheetmetal (support strutcture) where the hood is mounted...

Re: EVO Hood Not sitting flush

yup it will just bend that secton of the sheet metal. it won't be noticable b/c the hinge will cover it. and that part of the car is not a crucial part of the support structure of the car. that part of car is a mild crush zone and deflection of force

Re: EVO Hood Not sitting flush
Monday, June 02, 2008 8:31 PM
oops my bad, it was the pass side on my car actually. sorry no angle shots from that side b/c of the way it was in the garage. but if your going to do it. be gentle and take your time. once u hit them down it's 100x's harder to bring them up correctly

well if i go down to far i can use washers inbetween the hood and hinge to correct it right?
