I went to the local Pick-n-Pull and I actually found some pieces that I have been looking for for the past 8 months or so.
First was the grill piece. I was looking for a black one. I think it looks much better than with tan. This JY NEVER carries anything this new. I could not believe my eyes that they actually had one there. It came off a 2003 cav that was wrecked in the back. Cost $4.36.
Next was a front strut tower brace. This came off a 99 conv. that was in a rollover. The only conv in the yard and it had the brace! Cost $6.56.
Is this a stock piece, because it looks an awful lot like the RKSport brace?
yup its stock on the verts
RK = ripped off the GM brace. Maybe even going as far to say they collected all theirs from Junkers for the same price as yourself and sold them for 80 +... lol.
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
now take your cowell off from under your windshield, drill a hole in your fire wall and place a nut behind the brace and bolt it down onto the firewall.. !! you will notice it the difference a bit im sure . .
oh i forgot to add... i love pick n pull hahah specially when they have half off weekends ... i recently got my sunfire full interior and grand gt rims with tires from them... all n all about $250 granted i got the interior the week before te half off days
I was going to bolt it to the firewall as well. I even grabbed the mounting nut and bolt from the donor car. But the bracket on the brace sits about 1/2 ich from the firewall, and there is already a smaller bolt. It is like welded there, and it is not as sturdy as the right bolt, nor is it aligned right on the bracket. I had to trim the bracket to clear the small bolt. I am not sure if it is worth the trouble bolting it in the middle there. I can really tell a difference compared to before the strut tower brace.
killer deals man! i wish we had some good u pull it yards around here.....
Man I wish I had a pick-n-pull near me

x2 I'm in Henderson NC...so there's a whole lot of nothing here too.
I miss where I was in FL [Bradenton] simply because I had what used to be Copher Brother's You Pull It. Pay $1 to get in and pull what you need and pay as you leave. They were always cheap and it was sometimes just fun to go there without intent for parts simply because you never knew what you'd find there. I remember finding a pair of 3.5" Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on an 85 Regal. We hacksawed the pipes off and took the mufflers up front. They charged us $9 each That included a $2 core . So $18 for a pair of $90+ mufflers didn't hurt too bad. We found a muffler that'd fallen off a car up the road and turned it in for the $2 core later xD
Half the time if you looked around for about 20 minutes you could get your money back before you left too. We found a $20 bill in a glove box and a couple of $5s under seats of various cars. That was the best part, get your money back before you leave and still have enough to go to the store and get some food or drink.
Wow, lucky you don't live near the yard I work at. You would have probably paid $50 for those two pieces. It's not a self server yard though.
Yeah I hate those NON self-serve yards. I went to one a few years back for a part for a 91 cav I used to have. They brought me the part and it was all scratched up and bent, and wanted damn near dealer price for it. And then said I still had to pay for it after I told them no way. LOL
Plus, you can't find all the good stuff that we always seem to find by chance. Just walkin through the yard, look down, and "DAMN! I've been looking for this part for months!" or "I wonder if this will work on my car?"
That grill piece is like $84 at the dealer. Any way to secure that piece to keep someone from stealing it? Besides screws through the front of it. Like half of the cavs at my school are missing the grill.
use some .... adhesive ... whats it called again ? they come in tubes ? would make it harder to pull off more time consuming.
hey do the got any 03 and up headlights there? even if the assymbley is broke i just need the lenses
***Looking for a BLUE 03+ STOCK cavi wing pm me if ya got one you wanna sell***
lol Yeah I thought about the liquid nails and JB Weld and all that. But what if I want to take it back off? IDK why, I just don't like doing things that I can't reverse, even though I know I will never sell this car.
BlueDevil: this was the only 03 in the yard and I don't think it had any headlights on it. For years, all they went up to was 99. Newest cavs they have now is one 00 and one 03 out of about 200 j-bodies.
It's the same at my work. We have TONS of J-body's, but very few of the newer ones. The owners of my work are more interested in the Escalade's and the BMW's and stuff.
gotta remember, its only a cavalier it's not like hondas were people pick them apart so its not really uncommon to find a j with parts in tact lol
Oh yeah, I laughed right in their face, then walked out. They said since I used their service, I have to pay them for it (the service, not the part). LOL
